I had made an appointment to apply for the renewal of my passport. The appointment was made on the website. I received a confirmation email which included the time between 8.00am and 9.00am On arrival at the Pinetown Home Affairs at 7.50am I proceeded up the ramp after being guided to the parking.I was informed that parking would cost me R20.00. I stood in a queue for folk who had made an appointment.I was issued a slip with me name after the lady who assisted had found my name on her list of appointments. I was directed inside, sat in another queue for about 10 min. I was promptly attended to. Fingerprints and photos recorded.Sent to a counter with a printed document. The gentleman who atttended to me made me aware that my passport would cost R1200.00. This as result of the number of times I travel. He then went on to advise me that I could have my identity card issued at the same time. I then proceeded to the cashiers office and paid the R1200.00. The whole process was done and dusted in just over half an hour. A real pleasure. Kudos to this department.
10/11/22 : What a difference to come away from a Home Affairs satisfied. Staff helpful, friendly and efficient. The previous day we spent 5 hours in the queue at Umgeni Road, hardly moving and the staff manning the door were rude and unhelpful.
You are getting 1 star simply because there is no zero. You are thiefs. All of you. You get paid a salary to provide a service. Center Manager must be fired. People are attended by street vendors. They tell you where to queue and everything. I don't know what you people think you are. You need change or close that office. Minister, please investigate how these branch offices are run. DHA is on of the crucial department
I was not allowed in to register my son for a birth certificate. They only let in certain people and only a certain amount of people per day. I WAS TOLD TO PAY R350 TO JUMP THE QUE IF I WANTED TO BE HELPED. THIS IS CORRUPTION AT ITS ROOT!!!!!
Was on holiday in the EC and broke my ankle and received an sms in week 2 to pick up my passport in Pinetown. Nervous to be on crutches I called in and was told I would be allowed in but would have to wait in the collections line. Arrived to a very full and very dirty entrance and hopped on my crutches to the security who was so helpful and seated me in the correct queue. I was no 15. Very thankful I put my crutches down and sat following the queue. Two hours later yes it took two hours for the 14 other passports or IDs needed to be collected. Eventually my turn and the person behind the counter asks who do I think I am. Shocked I ofcourse replied excuse me he went on to scream at me telling me that he does not care if I am on crutches or not but I need to go and stand in-line outside like the rest of the people. He went on to say that pregnant woman stand there from six in the morning who do I think I am. Wow, Mr Linda Sir I took you name. Eventually I was told to hop on my crutches to his supervisor because he would not issue me my passport. Well the lady was mad and told him to please issue me with my passport. Thank you Mam. Apologies I did not get your surname. Never have I ever been screamed at and embarrassed as a woman by a man ever before in my life who is suppose to be servicing the country.
Home affairs Pinetown. It's discussing. Been waiting in line for 1 hr and 30mins. There way of doing things is not good. COVID is over and it's still treating people with utmost yuk. They need to see Richards bay home affairs. Time from am to lunch time. Sortyhus out
If I could give zero stars then I would have. Went to apply and the manager looked at the queue and said there are too many white faces in front of the queue. This after he arrives an hour late. In the meantime the office is closed because apparently the office may not 'function' without his presence. Sounds like another excuse not to work. Have been trying to collect for a long time now. Take leave, wait hours, no movement, eventually go to the front and ask what is happening only to be told there is some issue. No one informs the people waiting. We just wait. The contact numbers? Doesn't work. The email? No one replies. And no, they don't open at 08h00. Only 08h30. If you're lucky. Most dysfunctional place I've been to. Those 'workers' could die inside and no one would notice.
The worst experience I have ever had in public administration. Having queued for 5 hours yesterday at isipingo and the queue not moving we stood from 0630 until 1700 today we were 5th in line They said the system was offline and the queue didn't move at all until circa 1500. There will be have been many many people who have queued there today from 0700 until close at 1800 that have not even moved in the queue. The process is a disgrace and a shame on the nation of South Africa.
Waited the whole day but I had a booking at 12.00 still did not do my passport and payed R20.00 for parking at home affairs parking
A negative 5 experience. Queued from 5am until closure at 15:30 without entering the building to do what was intended. Sloppy staff who speed up service & push you to the front of the queue if bribed.
