Always a positive experience with Dr Paul Calow. Kind, knowledgeable and listens. Beautiful building and waiting room. Little to no wait time. Reception staff were also kind and helpful. Pricing is cheaper than what I’ve paid in Atlantic Seaboard where I’m from. Worth the short trip to Gardens and would definitely recommend.
Hands down the best General Practitioner I have ever been to. He took time to explain things to me in simple yet detailed and practical terms. He gave me life advice and perspective on the holistic impacts, effects, symptoms and solutions to my afflictions. Very professional and compassionate. Top Doctor. Can Highly recommend.
So I've seen many reviews about the poor service of the receptionists, which I also found to be true in my experience. It's such a pity because the doctors are really great I've seen 4 different Doctors over the last 2 years - all lovely, but there is always a tone of annoyance and irritation from the receptionists at the practice, even when phoning in. I also find the waiting room is a bit stark and could do with some 'warming' up.
I notice Dr Paul Carlow being mentioned in numerous unsatisfied reviews. Doctor refused to see me for being 4 minutes late to the appointment. Receptionist unbefitting and untrained in patient service.
A very, very good practice of competent, caring, compassionate and most importantly, excellent clinical diagnosticians. Dr Woermann is my go to GP in the group. Best of breed in my experience. Not always available at short notice but I have also seen Dr Calow and Dr da Silva who were both very pleasant, caring and professional.. To the naysayers about treatment by the harried receptionists, bear in mind that this is a very popular, super busy and well-supported practice. The doctors have just 15 minutes per consultation with their patients to listen to the patient’s particular medical complaint, examine them, diagnose and prescribe! Such is the nature of modern GP practices in order for GPs to make a reasonable income. On a busy day, by my calculations, one of these GPs has to see up to a 32 patients per day. The two receptionists have to deal with approximately 150 patients and appointment slots per day! If they are somewhat short and snappy it’s because of the sheer workload of dealing with so many people many of whom are feeling ill and not in the best frame of mind to cope with the efficiency and apparent terseness of the ladies involved. I don’t need their compassion nor care; my GP provides all of that and more. What does matter is that they secure the appointments efficiently, immediately process the claim after the consultation and in most cases, my claim is submitted directly to the medical aid and paid out instantly. It’s massively beneficial not to have to deal with medical aids, getting your claims in and money out of these tricky and obfuscating organisations. This practice has a lot of clout with the major medical aids and generally do not get messed around with like individual members of medical aid they try to claim directly from. If you come for your appointment in the latter part of the day chances are you will invariably be caught up in back to back appointment time run-overs which result in delays in seeing the doctor concerned. If you want to see a doctor without much delay you would be better advised to go to a boutique practice with one doctor, who gives more time per slot. The charges are at least double, and the bulk of which you will not get reimbursement from, by your medical aid. Furthermore you need to pay upfront, and claim back personally from the medical aid which slows up the reimbursement process and at least at least double what you pay at doctors on Kloof. From my experience with DOK, I have no hesitation in recommending this entire practice to anyone who wants an utterly professional GP and the best possible attention in the circumstances. Every time.
Doktors on Kloof are my doctors for 12 years and I am more than satisfied. Dr. Woerman is topping everyone with its caring attitude and the way he explains everything. A doctor i have been used too.
I’ve been seeing the doctors at Doctors Rooms on Kloof for several years and really thankful for their service. I CAN DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PRACTISE. The receptionists are sometimes a bit snappy, but they are managing like 5 doctor’s appointments - so that’s slightly understandable. They do sometimes ask patients to wait in their cars as extra precaution, but if you have no flu or covid symptoms, there is no issue.
What a terrible experience with Doctors Rooms on Kloof from the get go. The receptionist was very brash, she didn't allow us to get a word in edgewise in all the times we'd spoken to her. We made an appointment which they called and confirmed on the morning of. We were told to arrive and wait at the front of the surgery in the car. We called and told the receptionist that we'd arrived and she vehemently disputed that we had made an appointment at all. Eventually she said okay she can see our car and the doctor will be out shortly. Firstly, we were shocked that the consult was to be done in the car instead of in the rooms. When we asked for clarity on why this was the case the receptionist's tone was extremely condescending and she refused to answer. We waited on the road for 20 minutes before calling again to ask where the doctor was. The receptionist then rudely asked why we were on the road and not in the parking lot. After making our way to the parking lot we then had to wait another 30 minutes with more phone calls to ask when the doctor would attend to us. The receptionist then said she doesn't know where the doctor is, she will call them and let us know. Eventually the doctor showed up and had a rushed consult in the car. Even after confirming that there was no risk, I was not invited to go into the rooms. Furthermore with the obvious limitations of being treated in the car I didn't get the full consult I needed. The doctor didn't do basic procedures such as ask about my medical history, pressure check etc. This is not the level of care and service I expected and am used to.
Our visit to Doctors on Kloof was more of a JOKE, than a nightmare! The receptionist speaks as minimally as possible, no regard, and completely derogatory where she won't even allow you to speak. She called in the morning to confirm our booking. When we got there, she couldn't find our booking. She told us to park on the road in the sun for 20minutes, she then demanded why we were not parked in the parking lot. We waited 50 minutes!!!! to see a doctor, of which eventually waddled to our car. We had a quick record time "car consultation" The doctor did not ask us questions that would be proper for a first consultation. No pressure check, no medical history questions, etc. NEVER AGAIN!
We have used this practice throughout our stay in Cape Town. Based on our experience, it was the best medical consultation we have ever received. Dr Hans J Woerman is the best General Physician in town. He always explain the disease in detail and emphasis on curing the disease organically by changing lifestyle and diet. He is through professional and knows how to manage the chronic diseases. I recommend this practice to my colleagues and peers in Cape Town and would also recommend it to everybody.
