Really enjoyed our stay at Dragon Peaks. Lovely clean and huge studio rooms overlooking the lake towards the rear of the property - all clean, new, functional and comfortable. We loved the hikes on the property and threaded a few together to make a 2hr walk. Some caution and good footwear advised! Very nice simple meal in the bar - we ate there for both lunch and dinner. Delicious. Good selection of drinks. Staff very warm and friendly and we were grateful for an early check in. Lots to see and do nearby! Special happy mention for the on-site zebra with his horse pals and the cheeky vervet monkeys and baboons which added much to our Drakensburg adventure!
We checked in here on our way home and I am glad we paid a hugely discounted rate - we were searching for a view of the “peaks” which didn’t disappoint and found this resort! Food was very average but ok, the location has SO much to do for kids but is very run down… the pool slides didn’t work the fibre glass is peeling off but it’s clean which is good! The accommodation is TRRRIBLE the water that comes out the taps is filled with sand and brown the bath is cracked and you are too scared to stand invade it breaks the house is spider and insect infested and quite frankly a total let down the beds and linen are so old they seriously need an upgrade! Games room is not great and looks dirty! The pond for the canooing is full of mosquitos and quite frankly they need to fix it up would be an awesome place to build on! Don’t think we will come back in a rush! Sorry
Enjoyed our stay here. It's central to most outdoor activities in the area. The room was spacious and clean.Rooms: 5/5
The location, view and animals were beautiful. Enough activities to keep you occupied. The chalet its self was a disaster, the showers were filthy, you need slippers . The hot water was brown. The heaters dont work and the fire wood is very experience. The linen was old and discoloured. The entire chalet needs refurbishing. Everything is the sane from our last visit 5years ago. Will go back if they upgrade the chalets.
We camped here with a motorhome. It was winter, so expectedly very cold in the mountains, but stunning nature surroundings. There is a nice restaurant on the premises, and lots of activities for kids - escooters, horseriding guided walks on horseback, treetop / acrobranch type of thing, paintball, canoeing on the dam etc. Lots of space to ride your own bicycle too. Not a lot of campers when we were visiting, so lots of space available. The only gripe I had was there was only one ablution block with hot water. The one farthest away from us. I see another reviewer had the same issue. So that's obviously a problem here. For the location and activities close to Monk's Cowl where many hiking trails begin it's worth a visit, but there might be better options.
The place is beautiful, however we struggled to find hot water for shower, even today at New Year’s Eve we had to take shower in cold water, was very hard especially for my kids. Dogs are not allowed at the pool area, but we saw dogs swimming at the main pool. Also there were many dogs out of the leashes at the restaurant and one of them bit my husband. Finally, there were some nights that music was blasting till after 11pm. As mentioned, beautiful place and these are things that can be resolved, but would definitely come back if items above were resolved.
We always enjoy our stay here. The beds are clean and the resort is beautifully kept. There's something to do for everyone. Staff are always willing to go the extra mile. Good fish to be caught and I love how the horses roam around the resort.
Dragon Peaks is a beautiful getaway destination. The walks through the mountains are just breathtaking. If you love horse riding or just want to try it Lyn guided us on how to correctly guide our horses which made for the most amazing horse riding experience.Rooms: 3/5
We stayed at dragon peak from the 6th to the 8th of July. On the 7th we had dinner at the restaurant. As we arrived the general manager Brett tungay arrived with his 2 ‘puppy’s’ which are almost fully gone. The dogs proceeded to jump on guests and bite ankles. One of the dogs then saw my 2 year old son on his plastic bike and attached him. He was bitten on the leg and blood was drawn. He was also bitten on the back before I was able to get there to pull the dog off!!! The general manager is just as aggressive as his dogs. He offered no assistance or apology. He did not take his dogs out of the restaurant or bar and told me if I did not like it I could leave.
We booked rides for our kids who have ridden before. The woman was extremely rude. Definitely won't be supporting that activity in the future. Don't understand how this woman is employed. Very dissapointing....
