"Originally founded in Johannesburg in 1913, Everard Read is South Africa's oldest commercial gallery.Everard Read in Cape Town opened its doors in the V&A Waterfront in 1996. CIRCA Cape Town was unveiled in November 2016 across the road from the existing gallery space.Always dynamic, the gallery strives to maximise the exposure of fine contemporary painting and sculpture to a broad audience. An important contributor to the already vibrant cultural life of South Africa, Everard Read/CIRCA maintains a strong and unique identity for itself.A programme of both solo and group exhibitions is often accompanied by publications serving to showcase established contemporary artists as well as the emerging younger generation."

This place is a gem. Lovely selection of contemporary pieces by local artists, mostly paintings and sculptures. Beautiful setting in the two buildings and garden they are using. Entry is free. Most of the art displayed can be acquired.

Amazing Art Space! It was my first time visiting, and I really enjoyed the art. Went to see Nelson Makamo’s work and was definitely not disappointed. The entrance is free, and its a safe walking distance from the V&A.

Wonderful contemporary art in a beautifully restored old cape setting!

They have just opened a new exhibition by my neighbour, really worth seeing. I was at the opening and really enjoyed taking in the paintings in their new setting.

Wonderful gallery spaces. There are 2 sections so make sure you check out both. Also have evening exhibition openings. They are always well curated and a feast for the eyes. It’s also really convenient as it is right near the V&A waterfront.
