My girlfriend, her family, and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg for eight glorious nights, and I can confidently say this has been one of our most unforgettable experiences. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the staff were truly second to none. Every need was anticipated, and their dedication to service truly made our stay exceptional. The rooms were impeccably decorated, marrying local charm with modern luxury. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, they provided the perfect sanctuary after long days of exploration. The attention to detail was noticeable, from the beautifully arranged amenities to the breathtaking views over Johannesburg's lush landscapes. On-site dining was simply sensational. Whether it was the hearty breakfasts, delectable lunches, or sumptuous dinners, each meal was a culinary delight that showcased the best of South African cuisine. The chefs undoubtedly knew their craft, and every dish was a testament to their expertise. The hotel's location in the heart of Johannesburg meant we were ideally situated to enjoy the city's many attractions. Still, the Westcliff's tranquil setting made it feel like a serene getaway, a perfect blend of city and sanctuary. In all, our stay at the Four Seasons Westcliff was beyond compare. The hotel's unwavering commitment to excellence, combined with its unique charm and comfort, has left an indelible mark on our hearts. We highly recommend this beautiful gem to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Johannesburg.
We were there for lunch & it was spectacular. The food, the venue, the views, the service. We sat on the patio & when it got chilly they brought us blankets & heaters. If there is anything to fault its the chairs on the patio. After a few hours they got uncomfortable. Maybe supplying cushions will help. Other that that it was all good.Service: 5/5
About as good as a property as you can find anywhere in the world. Both the restaurant and spa were incredible. Breakfast was superlative. The welcome gifts for our kids was a great choice. We would stay here again in a hot minute.Rooms: 5/5
Absolutely stunning! From the room, to the restaurant with the view and the spa, we spent an amazing couple of days. I had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and the staff managed to decorate the room to create a magical moment.Rooms: 5/5
Don’t be fooled … this place has no characteristics of the Four Seasons Brand. The facility is run down, room is cramped, the food is mediocre, the wine selection is poor, the service is highly variable. Took an hour to deliver a salad in their signature restaurant Flame, 90 minutes to deliver mussels, 30 minutes to deliver the wine, poured champagne by 1/2 a glass for full price. Four Seasons need to fix it fast or pull their name. This is not a Four Seasons experience.
I visited Flames restaurant atop the hotel for my girlfriend's birthday and was delighted by the outstanding food and impeccable service. We were seated near the infinity pool with a gorgeous view of Joburg, and I recommend arriving before sunset for the full effect. Truly memorable experience. Food & drinks: Visit Flames restaurant. Treat yourself, this place will exceed your expectations.
Located between the old CBD area and the new rich centre Sandton, Rosebank, etc in a rich suburb. The hotel looks like it was taken over by Four Seasons and is on the eastern slopes of a hill giving great views towards Sandton and over the zoo though you won't see any animals!. The reception is at the bottom of the hill off a quiet road but next to a main road for easy access elsewhere. There is some parking but I don't know if it's free. There are lots of buildings on the hillside with rooms. Buggies can take you up and down to them. Our suite was very spacious and comfortable. The building and room are a little old. The TV doesn't enable casting for example. There were lots of sweet treats and fruits on arrival. Very good housekeeping. Large bathtub took ages to fill and good shower pressure. Bulgari toiletries were too strongly scented for me. Shame there was no balcony in our suite. More importantly there was no lift to our first floor room - probably not the most convenient with a young child. No upgrade given despite Preferred Partner booking though a later checkout and early check in were possible. There was a corridor to the restaurant which was useful. Breakfast was good. Especially recommend the South African breakfast to order. French toast wasn't great. Dinner was average. They had delicious soups and creme brulee. Mains were forgettable. Room dining took about 45 minutes to deliver. They have a decent kids menu too. Wife says the spa was very good. There is a narrow lap pool that isn't heated I think. The outside family pool is heated. The steps here were quite sharp. There were no toys initially but the very helpful attendant managed to obtain a beachball and noodle to play with. There is no kids area here and not much to see on the hotel grounds themselves. The reception has a small shop. Service was the highlight. Everyone was very friendly and tried their best to help whenever possible. Concierge was helpful too. The only exception were one or two of the reception staff ironically.
Amazing hotel. Your home from home. A big thank you to all the staff that has made our stay so special and so wonderful. We’ll be back for sure. Good beds, good airco, nice bathroom, warm pool… nice food at flames… breakfast with a view… it’s all so good and worth a visit….
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The food was amazing and they were very accommodating on being halaal friendly. The service all round was great and staff are super helpful and friendly. You pay for what you get!Rooms: 5/5
I went to Flames Restaurant at The Westcliff for my birthday. I’d made my original booking 5 weeks prior to my birthday hence was shocked on the morning of my birthday when I phoned to check the time of my booking and they couldn’t find anything. I had to make a new booking. It got progressively worse when I actually arrived at the venue and only high tables were available. They don’t tell you when you make your booking that there’s a combination of normal and high tables. For a restaurant that offers fine dining and promotes booking, you’d at least expect a disclaimer that no seating is reserved and you might end up at a high table, which is not ideal if you’re dining with the elderly or with kids. The final nail came when they got my order wrong: I was promised salmon and was delivered seabass instead. I was too tired to remind the waitress of my order and didn’t want anymore negativity to ruin my birthday. Parking at The Westcliff is also not the best experience. You park fairly far, then need to walk about 200m on paved cobblestone to get to a golf cart that will take you to the restaurant. I’m not sure that happens on rainy days, especially when we’re in high heels therefore this is definitely an area of development for the hotel, especially compared to its counterparts like Oyster Box. My first experience at The Westcliff and Flames Restaurant specifically, was therefore not that pleasant. That said, it’s a beautiful venue with stunning views and I would definitely give it another shot. The wine options are great. The food is also fairly well prepared. The ablutions are well looked-after. The views are serene and worth the drive. Take a chance - review your expectations and just enjoy the grandeur and exclusivity of the location.
