I tried Fraser Folly's Moerkoffie stout for the first time about a year ago and loved it, so I just had to visit the brewery and give their other beers a try. The tasting consists out of 5 different beers and after tasting all of them I can still say the stout is my favourite. If you enjoy the stout I recommend that you buy a bottle to take home, because I feel it tastes better out of the bottle than on the tap. The tasting area is located next to the Black Oystercatcher restaurant, which was very busy, so it was difficult to find a place to sit. There is also a wine tasting area where you also mostly stand and taste. I got the idea a bit that the focus was more on the restaurant than the beer/wine tastings - when I tried to pay it was difficult to find a someone to assist me, plus the seating issue, but it might be a different story when things are a bit quieter we went over a long weekend.
Excellent 100ml tasting selection at The Black Oystercatcher on Saturday! Especially enjoyed the Pilsner, which was light and flavourful. The Moerkoffie Beer is also particularly interesting.
We drove all the way out there on a Sunday because the the Google business details states they would be open on a Sunday, only to find that they are closed. Very disappointing.
Drove all the way from struisbaai, 30 minutes just to find out that it was closed... Very dissapointing.
EVERY beer I've had from Fraser's Folly has been FANTASTIC!.... I look forward to coming back again and again!
Drove to Fraser's - unfortunately closed but we found "the oystercatcher" that serves their beer. Excellent wine pairing by 'Craig'. Extremely friendly and a very "homely" feeling with doggos running around. Well worth the visit. Note that you are not allowed to bring your own pet.
