The Friends of La Lucia Library is dedicated to promoting and supporting La Lucia Library through fundraising and voluntary activity.

Description

The Friends of La Lucia Library is an independent, non-profit, volunteer organization devoted to promoting and supporting La Lucia Library in its aims and objectives to meet the ever changing needs of the community.

We support the library through fundraising and volunteer activities thus contributing to the improvement of the facilities and the service offered. Funds are raised through membership, book sales and other fundraising events to supplement expenses that fall outside the regular library budget.

We also aim to represent the interests of the users and provide a voice for their concerns and needs, serving as an important link between the library and the public.

Join Friends of La Lucia Library and become an ambassador for La Lucia Library. Help make it an exciting and dynamic place within the community. Make a difference by offering your time and ideas.

For a fee of R30 (R40 per family) a year you will become an asset to the library. Friends are entitled to a 28 day loan period.

A very conveniently placed local library which caters to all.There is a wide selection of different types of reading material so that everyone is catered for.The staff are friendly and knowledgeable which makes your library visit enjoyable.Lots of on-site parking.

This is the first time I have visited La Lucia Library. Tandeka assisted us. She was amazing. Thank you so much.

Read the reviews & clearly it was my badluck day. First time ever going to this library and only to do printing. Copier machine USB port covered with tape because they do not offer that option. No air-conditioning. Staff reluctant to assist, not friendly in my opinion, the security guy was the best surprising enough. I had mentioned about having gone first to the Kensington Library to do copies and that copier machine had the USB option which really makes life easier but unfortunately that copier machine gave up mid printing so I had to go to La Lucia library and I made mention to one of the staff at LA Lucia Library who made a comment about "oh she's coming from Durban North with her stories". Does it really matter where one is coming from? A library is a library and I truly don't think your job is very demanding as a librarian to show such disinterest when one asked for assistance. And just by the way, the Firwood road library is temporarily closed due to renovations which is in my area, hence I had to run around to other libraries in the vicinity just to make copies. Please be a little more friendly and helpful next time.Thank you!

The library is a bit small but has plenty of books. The also have desktop computers which you can make a booking to use them. They also have DVD's to that can be hired if you are a member of the municipal library.

A quiet respite; friendly librarians; good space for students. As I read on tablet been absent from the library but good to report that they still keep it as!an oasis. Copying Copying is cheap for bulk; no USB though. Fun activities for kids.

Helpful and cheerful staff always make for an enjoyable time at the La Lucia Library, especially for the kids. In the past, the activity and story time afternoons on a thursday thrilled the little ones.  A wide selection of authors and neatly stocked shelves really do impress

Air conditioner not working Extremely hot  And this has been so from December 2022.

Very friendly and helpful staff

Terrible, the librarians and the security guard clearly haven't heard of the silence rule. Such a pity.

Quiet enough Libray.I go there to study and I find it comfortable.
