Be transported to the land of the Fairies! This part of the Garden Route National Park takes you on the old forest pass between George and Wilderness Heights. Once on the other side there is a 5 km hiking route to the Big Tree.
It is magical to drive between the trees, branches hanging low and cutting into the road.... if you are on a motorcycle. On the Eastern Cape side of the park, the road is overgrown and unkempt and I will not recommend a car driving through there.
A awesome must visit park with camp sites next to thundering waves. Lots of exciting walks and things to see. Clean ablution. Staff not helpful to a standard befitting this park. Restrooms: Clean with hot water
This place is beautiful. We decided to climb Robberg and walk to the Point. Were not prepared for what was to come! Took 4 hours without resting... mostly walking and climbing in full sun. 11km of up and down hill, over rocks and boulders, quite challenging. NOT recommended unless you are super-fit. No water, no facilties, no clear signs aling the way...easy to get lost. Some places are quite scary and difficult to climb with very little safety rails. But beautiful views and magnificent scenery. Saw seals and penguins.
I did the famous Otter trail over 5 days and 4 nights. This was the most rewarding experience in the world. We were a group of 12 people who hiked through the Tsitsikama forest. What an incredible experience. No one could ever prepare a person for natures garden and beauty Playground: There is no playground Restrooms: There is one toilet at each rest stop Dog-friendliness: No pets allowed Picnic area: You can stop and eat anywhere
Garden route is one of the best attractions in the west and east cape. Although road sketches from capetown to Port elizabeth, the most scenic section is from George to stormsie river. Lot of adventure activities - hiking, kayaking, bungee jumping, zip lining.
Took a walk through Robberg Nature Reserve, and wow! What an incredible place. The paths are well looked after and signposted along the way. The peninsula juts out suddenly and before you know it you are 2km out to sea and about 100m above the clear blue waters of Plettenberg Bay, the houses in the distance behind, and the vast waters of the Indian Ocean ahead. You can get To see sea lions, sea gulls, whales, dolphins and sometimes even sharks from high above the water. The loop to the point and via the island is approximately 9km, with a variety of trail type from rock hopping to cliff edge views, sandy steps, beach sand, boardwalks, foresty sections and incredible fynbos along the way. There are shorter options too for those not wanting to complete the full 9km loop, and information is available throughout the hike on where to turn and distances left.
Absolutely spectacular scenery. So much to see. And seems like plenty to do. Wish we could've spent more time in the area
Beautiful place, I loved the suspension bridge
It is such a beautiful place to visit and get back to nature. The waves that break on the rocks, the birds and other wildlife, and the amazing privilege to be able to enjoy it. The suspension bridge over the Storms River is a definite must do bucket list item for any and all adventure seekers.
