Built as a replacement for the old synagogue next door which they outgrew in1905. A truly beautiful shul which is still in use. Also next door is the Cape Town Holocaust Centre and a kosher diary deli.
Any Jewish visitor in CT should prioritize the Gardens shul on their TO DO list.. for both its aesthetic and majestic yet humble beauty as the oldest synagogue in CT, but for the incredible shabbat service and choir. Rabbi Oshy Feldman will ensure a warm welcome and make you feel part of the shul family from the moment you enter. So much so that when you leave CT, you will feel like you have gained so much more than just a tourist visit but an extended family.... Add a world calibre choir led by Cantor Choni G, your soul will truly feel like it has been on a spiritual journey that will leave you a richer version of yourself.
A beautiful old shul. Well kept. Daily minyan. Great acoustics.
Rabbi I attended shul on Friday...today...I havent been a good jew and wanted to pray for forgiveness...Eish then your security stopped me and asked for my ID....I walked back 2 km and got it...when I returned they said that you dont know me... Rabbi you dont...but I wanted to come back to shul.....and pray. Now I feel like God doesnt accept me back and am lost. Why did/you do this.....I dont understand.
Was there for the holiest day in jewish calendar. Spiritual meaningful and thoroughly enjoyable
Lovely building, wonderful Bar mitzvah service
Beautiful Shul, amazing Rabbi and incredible choir
It is always a pleasure to be here. This time I was attending a talk on faith and sports. Thank you.
Nice shul that understands its' place in the history of the community and the nation.
Community can be proud of this Shul. No criticisms.maybe some of the wardens could be more formal as befits. ...and the conduct of its committee members during serious parts of the service is not what one expects...to the extent of flippancy when reading names of deceased members. There are other examples.
