Genesis is the Youth/Young Adults' Movement at Rosebank Catholic Church.

Description

Genesis aims to enable and encourage the young adults (confirmation age up to about late-30s) in Rosebank to discover more about our Catholic faith, while meeting new people. While doing this, we attempt to reach out to our community, both within the parish, and further afield.

To this end, we meet together for a wide variety of activities; some social, some spiritual, and some outreach. We love to see new people, and we always welcome new ideas.

Goodness, I don’t even know where to start. I wish I could give a million star rating! A huge, massive thank you to Everyone at Genesis!! From the first moment my husband and I stepped foot into genesis we were greeted by bubbly knowledgeable receptionists who helped us make our appointments, thanks to Cecilia who made sure of our appointments, with Sr Denise! we were well taken care of by Sr Denise from the first appointment all the way to our 6 week post check up, thank you so so very much for being so amazing and accommodating no matter how many questions and concerns we had, but especially for all the advice and tips I Still use them and baby is thriving. A huge huge huge thank you to Daisy, seriously I cannot thank you enough, who walked my husband and I through every step of labour and delivery, very supportive and so so kind and informative, I know there was another lady in the room for delivery unfortunately I didn’t get her name but thank you to. Thank you to the gorgeous ladies who tip toed around us to clean the room as to not disturb us, you are a star! Thank you to those who cooked and brought us those delicious meals. Thank you so much very to the pediatrician Dr B, you are so kind and real gem! Thank you to all the in-house staff at Genesis, it truly was an amazing experience from antenatal to birth and postnatal, we feel so loved so welcomed every time we’re there, so well prepared and most importantly we were supported and well informed every step of the way. I thank all you hard working wonderful ladies for the best birthing experience. Should we have another baby I will definitely be back and I honestly will not stop recommending Genesis. Thank you all so very much!!!!
My stay at genesis was a good one, I love their private rooms and the fact that you can be with your spouse 24/7. I must say that this has been the most fulfilling experience, giving birth naturally with my spouse present. My midwife sister xoli makabane was amazing from the start. She is good at what she does and is highly knowledgeable. She helped me with my VBAC with the baby weighing 4kg. My Labour was short and there were no complications whatsoever . I still cannot believe that I gave birth naturally. I used to dread it. But thank God for places like genesis and their midwifes.I just didn't like the food, that's why 4 stars.
Absolutely love Genesis! Birthed there multiple times. The facilities are great. The rooms are immaculate, offering a serene bedroom-feel birthing environment. All the rooms have a bathtub with a sitting spot for water births. The staff and midwives are highly skilled and I love the flexible visiting hours & family friendly - immediately after birth, siblings could meet in the recovery room which was very special for us. In the downstairs private units cost slightly more, dads can sleep over for the whole hospital duration and will be provided with meals. You can pay for extras. Genesis also assists with applying for a birth certificate on your behalf before you leave and available to pick up from Genesis within days. They have additional support services like a sonographer Maryke Killian, spa Tsholo Bless & baby wellness clinic Dr Bopape paediatrician and ongoing antenatal & postnatal classes offered by the hospital from skin to skin to birthing positions and baby care post birth on the go for parents to attend! They are big on an empowering birthing experience. Love it.
My midwife Gail was rude and unprofessional. She made my birth experience aweful and I wouldn’t recommend her at all. The hospital staff weren’t helpful and didn’t go out their way to tend to me, the nature of this hospital isn’t very helpful. I am glad I had the opportunity to give natural birth at Genesis and thankful for the time and that my husband could be with me during the Covid time last year. Dr Mia is fantastic.
If you looking for Comfy, safe and just a wonderful overall experience... look no further ! Genesis is theeee place ! I birthed 3 kids here and appreciated every minute of it. You are in good hands for sure! Make sure you choose a midwife that you feel comfortable with and have that connection. I personally recommend Midwife Ruwaida and Dr Mia as a back up gynecologist as they are both amazing! They care and you just know you & baby will be safe ! Nurses are really on call. They are friendly and help with whatever you need. They do promote Natural and help you breast-feed or teach you how to should i say. First baby i struggled to get it right and they helped each time with a smile . Check ups are done. Registration at your hands. Food is lovely. Rooms are cozy. They try to make your birthing dream a reality. Administrations a bit lagging though but can be overlooked due to the overall experience. They offer various classes prior to birthing wich helps. They do really know what to do, what to look out for all while trying to accommodate your want and needs. Imagine birthing in a hotel type vibe... both hubby and baby with you at all times ... it's just an experience I'll forever be grateful for !
This clinic is definitely one of the best maternity hospitals in the country. It is a bit more expensive, but for the service you get, it is worth every rand. The parking area is not as big as some larger hospitals but you always find a spot. The staff, professional and non-proffesional are very helpful and friendly. One can also bring in external midwives and doulas if organised before hand. The rooms are well equipped, cosy and clean. The food is tasty. I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this clinic without any reservations.
Absurd Pediatrician charges and illogical rules, one needs to think twice. Standards and services has deterioted!! Last gave birth at Genesis in 2017. I really loved and enjoyed the services and the care. From hospital manager, the doctors to the nurses the service was phenomenal. But now 2022, went back for hospital booking. The rules and standards has changed, so many employees has left. Ridiculous doctor's fees example they only have 1 pediatrician, they do not allow other pediatricians. She is currently charging R6000 each child born of c-section. Ha Ha Ha!! At other hospitals the pediatricians are charging between R2500- R4000. Imagine a R2000 difference in this current economy situation? Good Luck!! 2ndly they now request that if you are a cash payer you still need a medical aid for the unborn child, this clearly forfeit the purpose of cash payment option. Considering absurd Pediatrician charges and illogical rules one needs to consider if it is worth.
What an amazing experience with Lilo Mthembu. I can’t even find perfect words to express how happy we are with her services. We started our journey with Lilo before I was even pregnant which means Lilo was part of my pregnancy journey from day 1. My first appointment with her was at 16 weeks, the longest 16 weeks of my life. The day finally came, it was on a Wednesday I remember very well. She greeted me with the biggest smile and a very warm hug. I needed that hug it felt like a heaven-sent hug from my mom. I then knew I was at the right place. I and my baby will be taken care of. I couldn't wait to call my friend and cousin who both highly recommended Lilo and tell them about my first appointment. Lilo delivered my cousin's baby and my best friend's baby. I looked forward to all my appointments with Lilo not only was I looking forward to hearing my baby's heartbeat but I was looking forward to being heard, seen, and validated. She knew all my fears and she didn't promise me the world but she promised me that she will be with me every step of the way. I must just hold on to her and that's what I did I held on to her till the very end. Fast forward to my last weeks. My baby was so comfortable she didn't want to come out. I was tired, my husband always had a list of questions to ask Lilo. She answered them so calmly that my husband would leave Genesis feeling he can take over the world with the knowledge that he has. We had the best times all 3 of us. Laughter was the order of all our appointments. Last two weeks, Lilo was checking up on me after every 30 minutes. I would beg her to sleep but she would still send me messages checking if im okay. Lilo started the induction conversation because my girl was not bothered. I was scared, but she explained what induction was the pros and cons of induction, and the next step if induction didn't work. Whenever I would cry and send her long messages about how scared I was, she would listen and make sure that I feel better after our conversation. She knew how badly I missed my mom and how I would love to have her hold my hand. She played that motherly role effortlessly so. Fast forward to my delivery day, we arrived at Genesis, she was at the door waiting for us. She welcomed us and showed us our room the Jasmine room. We had to fill out forms, and she explained every form and made sure that we understand and we are happy. We arrived at Genesis at midnight, my contracts started around 2 am, and she was the best. She couldn't even go to the bathroom because I wanted her next to me. It was a nice storytelling session with exercises. She was doing the exercises with me making it look possible and easy to do. We took walks together, while my husband was having the best sleep of his life. At 8 am we welcomed my baby girl just when I was thinking real labor started I gave birth to a 4.1 kg healthy baby girl. She kept updating my husband and made sure that he was ok and not scared. My husband can't stop talking about Lilo. I can go on and on about my birthing experience and Lilo Mthembu but it’s time to feed my baba Thanks Lilo Mthembu. You were born for this. I birthed my first baby at Genesis in April 2021, my midwife was Lilo Mthembu. Such an amazing woman who is not only good at what she does but she loves what she does. Herself and my doula Philile really made my labour much easier. I'm now expecting a baby boy and there's no other hospital I would go to than Genesis. Thanks to Lilo

When they speak of dedication, passion and professionalism you embody all of the above with so much bravery Out of an unfortunate situation we were going through late in our pregnancy, scared and confused……JEHOVAH God did miracles which He led us right at your doorstep. You gave us warm hugs and assured us all was going to be okay with a beautiful smile on your face which lit up the whole room. Immediately our stress levels went on a decline. Our first appointment with you was so refreshing,isneke sakho and detailed thorough follow up in everything that you touched gave us much comfort. The birthing experience - wow You are a mean machine. Pulling your superhero stunts so patiently without panic. Never losing hope even when we did not believe we could pull it off anymore. Wow… what a champion, we truly believe you are Wonder-Woman. You did it with no team on your side, all by yourself. While we were still waiting for a team to come rushing through the doors…you single-handedly made it happen.
