We really enjoyed the food and the show here. It is a very touristy place but a good presentation of different African dishes. Foods are delicious, service is good, waitresses are polite. The dinner took around 2-3 hours so give enough time to enjoy yourself. There is free face painting and dance competition after dinner. Recommend this place Well done!
Great experience. From the pre-show drumming experience to food, all was spot on. Drumming portion was fun, you do it all together. The entertainment consisted of 3 short dance/music performances, but it was a perfect length. The food from different African countries tasted good. Great experience in Cape Town - it is definitely targeted to tourists and I can’t speak to the authenticity of the place, but it was certainly a very enjoyable experience. You get to have your dinner with lively and entertaining performances. Dinner is a 14 course sample of many different dishes, not only from South Africa but other African countries as well. The servers were all very friendly and explained each dish. Wonderful atmosphere overall!
Amazing experience! Great atmosphere and the set menu was delicious authentic food, when they serve the plates they explain about each dish. The waitress was so nice AND they sang and celebrated specially for us because we are on our honeymoon. We loved every thing! Beautiful African decor. Live show! Highly recommended!! it's an amazing place with fun workers. all have national costumes, national songs and dances, you quickly plunge into the African atmosphere. Why did I remove one star? I celebrated my birthday, booked a table in advance ... and at the moment when everyone absolutely everyone was congratulated ... they forgot about me. The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure that you feel right at home. The food is simply fantastic, with a wide range of traditional African dishes that are beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. And the live performances are simply stunning, showcasing the rich and diverse cultures of Africa in a way that is both authentic and exciting. Overall, Gold Restaurant is an experience not to be missed, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town.
We were a group of eight here from the US on tour in South Africa and had an excellent evening at GOLD. The dishes from various countries in Africa were delicious and broadened my horizons although I’ve traveled significantly. And the entertainment was spectacular. The dances were exciting and the singers had amazing voices. The instrumental music was also exceptional. Our group had the best time and we’ll host all of our dinners here in the future.
A beautiful experience, especially for those new to The Continent. Fun drumming lesson, great entertainment, and good food! The service was exceptional, and you can request additional portions of your favorite dishes. Make reservations prior to attending because it is a popular destination for tour groups! The cardamom ice cream with the Africa-shaped cookie was exceptional. Vegetarian options: The standard menu has a variety of vegetarian options. Let them know of any dietary restrictions when you make reservations, and they will accommodate as best they can. They brought her additional vegetarian options.
One of the best restaurants I have visited while traveling. The food are delicious and authentic, services are great. They offer live performance as well in between meals to add on the African experience while dining. The 14 course menus are worth trying as you get to try a wide varieties of African dishes, from Zamibia cheese to Cameroon chicken. Definitely worth a visit while in Cape Town!
