There's a reason it's called the GOLDEN Gate National Park... Driving through the park in October, the rich, warm colours of the landscape are so striking! And winding your way through the mountains from the Clarens side towards Fouriesburg, the rock formations become ever more epic with each turn! A stunning drive through amazing scenery!
Really lovely part of South Africa. About a 50 minute drive from Clarens it’s a must visit as the scenery is beautiful. The roads are tarmac so it’s easy to drive around in any vehicle, with plenty of stopping places to take photographs. You must also visit the vulture hide where if your lucky you will spot some feeding on the carcasses of animals that have placed by the rangers for them to feed on. Unfortunately we weren’t lucky.
We had a great stay at Golden Gate. I spent 2 nights at Gleb Reneen with my fiancee and our son. The park is clean, staff is very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit the park again.
An absolutely beautiful park. The sandstone rock formations are absolutely breathing, you think you've seen the best possible only to find a better one down the road. The only thing I wasn't too happy about, there should be more places to stop to take in the views and beauty.
Gorgeous mountains. Easy check-in at Glen Reneen with friendly staff. Exited in the morning through the gates which were not golden but still majestic - we will need to return to see them in their sunset glory.
Beautiful nature and a pleasant environmental experience. Beautiful mountains. There are many walking trails that leads you to almost the top of the mountains, into caves where you see monkeys and baboons. It is a beautiful experience. There are also horse riding and driving trails. One thing that is a matter of concern is that there are none or very little game to be seen. Where are they ore are they pouched by local authorities.
After reading the negative reviews on the website we were doubtful about our choice to stay at Golden gate, fortunately, our experience here has been a pleasant one. Friendly staff, cozy hotel room, the buffet dinner on Friday night could have had a wider spread for the price. The buffet breakfast spread was delicious. We also enjoyed the game drives and hiking trails. Will definitely come back and recommend to others. Stayed 6-8 July 2018
It is a very nice and relaxed place where you can bring your kids, friends or siblings for holidays to enjoy nature. There is walking trails ,horse riding, canoeing, tennis court and picnic side where can see where the name Golden gate came from. In short it is such a peaceful place and there's animals also e.g Blesbok, ealand, zebra, wildebeest ext...
Good experiance and amazing landscapes
My Fiancé and I had an amazing experience at Golden Gate National Park. We stayed in the Noordbrabant Farm House, and couldn't speak more highly of the entire stay! I would also like to mention the Gentleman who helped us at the Hotel the evening of our check-in; We checked in late, and didn't manage to stop at the shops for coffee/milk etc the farm house is self-catering, and ran into the hotel and asked whether we could buy some from them. Moikena not certain of the spelling, unfortunately helped us immediately, with a huge pack of housekeeping coffee, sugar, milk and assorted teas enough to have lasted our entire stay- to be honest! and refused to charge us for the pack. I must send a massive Thank You to Moikena and his generous supply of coffee! We would recommend the Farm House and the park to anyone who just needs a break from the hustle of Jo'burg! Its worth the trip!
