Heraut is from humble beginnings and was established in 1985 when a need for a community newspaper for the residents of Heidelberg and Nigel was established.

Heraut prints 20 000 copies weekly with the distribution taking place every Wednesday. We boast ± 80 000 readers and cater for the Afrikaans as well as English audience.
Heraut journalists do thorough news coverage in Heidelberg as well as Nigel, and editorial space are also set aside for Balfour. News featured for Balfour include coverage of police news, municipal issues, schools as well as community events.
For over 30 years, Heraut has been the voice of their communities, taking pride in both the towns of Heidelberg and Nigel’s achievements.
