Help@Science provides a space (PD Hahn 6.36.3), where 1st yr UCT Science students can come to work Mon-Thu 1-6pm, with tutors on hand from 4-6pm for help.
Do you have burning questions you'd like to ask a tutor? Need a space to do work on 1st year science courses, where help is available when needed? Or work through questions and prepare for tests with classmates, with a tutor around when you get stuck? Like a Hot Seat for different courses together, running in the afternoons?
Help@Science provides a space (currently in the Science Learning Centre; PD Hahn 6.36.3) where Students doing 1st year Science Courses can come to do work and ask questions of tutors, as needed. Currently we run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 4-6pm and offer help with Maths (MAM1000W, MAM1004F/S, MAM1005/6H), Applied Maths (MAM1043/4H), Chemistry (CEM1000W, CEM1009H) and Statistics (STA1000F/S, STA1006S, STA1007S). If you need help with other Science 1st year courses (e.g. Physics, Computer Science), we can try to source a tutor if you let us know!
To establish a space where first year students in the Science Faculty can be assisted in gaining understanding and developing the tools necessary to become competent in their fields of study.
