You can apply online to do your application for your documents mfaster. BAPS BUT, you have to stand in a queue that goes around the block in a really unsafe, unclean place to collect your documents. Also there are men who try to bribe you into moving to the front of the line. Not that they really can... Definitely time to rethink the collection process DHA.
Their waiting period is madness, we are lined outside for hours, and when i say hours i mean hours without help. But as soon as you inside the counter, their service is faster. Overall i think something can be done. We can wait more than 4 hours for Collection of ID. No
The service is efficient when one gets to the counter, however the hustle outside door is real. Lol, great parking across the road for R15 & loads of illegal parking on the pavement available not an advocate of breaking the law and suggest to lose payed parking. No need to attend the gym on the morning you arrive here as the queues will test your cardiovascular stamina and endurance. Word of advise they close at 15:30, the closer you go to closing time the less shorter the queues are, this save yourself the traditional exercise of queue standing and testing traditional cardiovascular techniques, attend gym and utilise the contemporary methods rather Service view: In support of the civil servants that work at this venue, my heart goes out to you @deptofhomeaffairs, these teams are overworked, they are dedicated, they work hard. The venue is to small to service the catchment area and without a doubt they need more hands. The Passport arrived in 6 days from initial application great going However I am sure as our government we can implement swifter menthols of receiving and possibly a revenue stream as well. If we offered to pay for courier to receive ID’s Passports etc. this could be an additional revenue stream. #sagovernment @sagovernment #deptofhomeaffairs
Just like any other government department: messy, partially vandalized etc. this was no different. But my review is to help others and NOT to criticize! 1. Parking - There is no parking in front of the building which is located on the corner of Nana Sita & Sophie De Bruyn streets. However, Nana Sita is a two-way street separated by a lengthy island, so opposite Home Affairs is the part of that island which is used for INFORMAL parking and adjacent to this parking lot is a Taxi Rank. Make sure you have cash on you, because there is no office to pay for parking. This money is paid to a gentleman not in uniform who 'works' as a car guard and he charges anything from R15 to R25. You might get a piece of paper used as a receipt, but don't count on it. 2. QUEUES - At the entrance of the building you will meet a security guard who will direct you to the correct queues on either side of the doors. There is seating provided for both queues for about 30 people; the rest of the lines run past the neighboring shops. I got there late: 09:15. 3. REASON FOR VISIT - I needed to get a copy of a death certificate etc, so I was directed upstairs to the 1st floor. Make sure you have a pen on hand! 4. PAYMENTS - After completing the paperwork, you will be directed to the 3rd floor where you can pay with Cash or Card. Once paid, you MUST return to the consultant that assisted you to proof that you paid. If you don't go back with Proof of Payment, your application WILL NOT BE PROCESSED. If it wasn't for the friendly staff, I would not have rated this place with 2 stars.
I visited this Home Affairs Branch this morning to apply for an unabridged birth certificate. It took me literally 14 minutes flat. I was sat down immediately at a desk and was assisted by a very friendly lady  who submitted my application very quickly after which I was sent to another window for payment. I was also assisted immediately by a friendly lady. I went back to the first lady to finalise the application, all done in 14 minutes. Let's hope they can issue my birth certificate in a reasonable time
I got assisted within an hour. Ensure you book an appointment for passport and ID application some people were turned back due to not booking an appointment. Overall it was a good experience.
Honesty the nicest person I met is the guard on duty. I spoke to the passport gentlemen only to be spoken to like a child in a rude and condescending manor when I asked the so called supervisor to speak to him he just stared at me and then eventually decided i was worthy of his time , clearly he was untrained and uncaring answered me with the most ridiculous answer ever. Was really a horrible experience.
This place is corrupt. Here to collect id & passport. They say its a long process to collect. Then they have unmarked ques you have to fall into and wait 2-3hours. Plus we had like 3 guys offering R500 to cut the que and bypass the government guys at the door. My advice..go to acasia as they seem less corrup sofar.
Great service been there 3 times to apply for my temp ID and on all 3 occasions the service was efficient, it didn't matter at what time I arrived I would always get helped quickly
Will definitely use this branch again, there is safe parking accross the street and if you are applying for something that is not an ID then it is quick and efficient. Was in a panic as I needed an unabridged birth certificate urgently and managed to get it immediately.
