House Welwitschia, a ladies' home on the UFS Bloemfontein campus, prides herself in being unique and striving for excellence. Watch this space for updates.
The residence was established in 1971 as one of the proud ladies residences on the campus of the University of the Free State. The name Welwitschia came from the ancient Namibian desert plant, known for it's uniqueness and toughness. In the early days, Welwitschia became the home for the Namibian students.
Today, with 177 young ladies, House Wel-Wel, as our residence is affectionately named on campus, prides itself on being a mix of different cultures. It also offers stability and reliability as the plant it was named after.
