Integrated Expressive Arts uses different art mediums (dance, drama, art and music) combined with counselling techniques for a embodied counselling process
Integrated Expressive Arts was created to provide a space for people to begin a healing and self-reflective journey. This journey is held within an expressive arts medium. This means that art forms such as movement, dance, music, art and drama are used in combination with counselling techniques to give you the chance to explore your thoughts, emotions and self. We also use other holistic means of healing such as Access Bars.
Expressive arts counselling uses a somatic approach to obstacles and challenges in an individual’s life. Accessing the voice (in song and simple voicing), the body (in yoga, dance, movement and gentle touch massage), art (any art medium such as paint, pencils, fabric, etc), drama (story, role play, engaging the imagination and puppetry) and play, you can set out on a journey that can bring knowledge you did not know you knew and expression you had not attempted.
Integrated Expressive Arts believes that unless one has connected with all parts of the self, much of the self remains a mystery and is not acknowledged. Once a connection has occurred, an integration needs to take place. This allows for an authentic expression of the self and plenty of room to play and have fun.
