Joy of Art is a vibrant and diverse, but yet intimate environment for children (from Gr 2 and up) to become young and capable fine artists!!
Young kids are natural artists who just love to draw, but unfortunately, during their formative years they become very critical of their own work and may even stop drawing!
However, the desire to be able to draw well is enduring, evident in the aspirations of most adults who claim they "cannot even draw a stick figure, but would love to be able to..."
My passion is to help people develop their drawing ability (because like riding a bicycle, drawing needs a person who is willing to try continually in the presence of someone who helps and directs) so that they can be the unique artist they were created to be. That is the story of how Joy of Art was ultimately established...friends wanted to draw and I wanted to help them do that!
Joy of Art's mission is to help each person to REALLY start looking at everything around them, to develop an absolute in-depth perception when surveying their surroundings. With this new way of really looking, not only creativity is developed, but also the confidence that anything CAN be drawn well.
The young artist will find beauty in what they see and express themselves in their drawings, something which can be made possible when they are given the correct tools and skills with which to do so!
