Mission

Kalasthaana is a place that I have created for individuals just like myself that are inspired by fine arts and is willing to embrace significant life experience.
I, PregashniChetty have been dancing for 20 years. I attended my first dance class at the age of 4 and I have been drawn to it ever since. Dance to me is life itself and I only realised just how drawn to it I was when I became a student at Kalakshetra Foundation.
This Temple of arts had not just moulded me into a professional dancer but also inspired my soul and made me into this passionate person I am today. I feel extremely blessed and inspired for all I have gained from this college of fine arts that I chose to share my experiences with you. My aim of Kalasthaana is to uplift the culture and traditions and spread the knowledge and beauty of fine arts to those who have the interest.

I offer Bharathanatyam lessons which covers all the theoretic and physical aspects. I have also included modern Indian, folk, village and Bollywood dance.

I had a lovely experience at KZNSA. I had my first date with my now partner here and the second time we went there, we wore the exact same outfits unplanned. We only realized when we saw the previous pictures The Place is lovely and airy, the ambience is refreshing. The Cafe is situated on a flight of steps inside and has a sitting area outside as well. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The waitress who was serving us was amazing. She was funny, knowledgeable and checked up on us a dozen times. Which was fantastic. The food was impeccable, the best Eggs Benedict and burger I had had in a long time. The food is fresh and the spices and herbs used are fresh and healthy. Which is my type of food. It is very affordable as well. Loooved the hot chocolate and the chocolate cake was delicious, not sweet but flavourful, moist and not too much cream. Juuust how I like it. Right next to the Cafe is the art and crafts. I love how they showcase the art and the booklets that fill you in on the artists and art. The short videos that are put on the projector and the laptop. Love how you give South African artists and Durban based artists the opportunity to showcase their work. I enjoyed every single moment there both times I was there. I tell everyone about the place and I will keep going back.
A peaceful venue located in Glenwood, Durban. Depending on which route your maps app takes you, you could drive relatively peacefully through Morningside and Berea to get there, or through the buzz and chaos of the CBD. This is a great venue to have brunch or lunch with friends. Depending on how late your run / cycle ends, you could also opt to get your post-workout meals here. It will be a bit of a wait though so if you’re really hungry, you might need to push the staff to prioritize your meal. The menu options aren’t plentiful, especially if you’re on a strict diet; however, there’s enough to enjoy a decent meal. There are exhibitions in the gallery, which are changed frequently enough. There isn’t enough on display for you to get lost for hours on end exploring artwork and pieces but, there’s enough for a quick walk-through and discussions afterwards. The adjacent Art Store has beautiful crafts. Depending on your budget, you could find good pieces here. There is safe, unstructured parking at the venue. A pleasurable experience overall.
A great place to get work done after touring the exhibition space and filling yourself up with their creamy delicious chicken pasta . You then pretend to work very hard hoping a stranger might break a conversation you too much of an introvert to initiate .
Fantastic space, airy and inviting, the talent, I'm definitely sure I you can find a memorable price or two... Congratulations to crateives trading their wares, you deserve the world. The only challenge is that it is not wheelchair accessible, we so wanted to go upstairs and continue enjoying the Arts and crafts but we couldn't. Sad.
Great experience. Beautiful collection of crafts, including ceramics, weaving, recycled plastic products and naive art. Great gifting option and away to see and support community crafters and artist. Totally worth a visit. Lovely conversation with Gloria Hoff - so lovely. Thank you.
A wonderful place to visit. Relaxed friendly vibe. Interesting craft shop and lovely cafe that serves everything delicious...milkshakes are to die for. Even a jungle gym for the littlies.
This cafe has a lovely outdoor seating area, delicious eggs benedict, and live music on the first Friday evening of the month. The indoor seating area is funky and fun looking and if you have time explore the gallery and gift shop.
Absolutely stunning place, a great combination between architecture and nature! I would definitely recommend trying their cafe, yummy food and delicious drinks... A wonderful variety of arts and crafts to purchase.

Small menu, but brilliant food. Such a relaxed atmosphere - I can literally go and sit there for the entire day, every day. Friendly staff and great service
