Karoo Ouberg Lodge

We needed a place to stay in Middelburg and arrived quite late. Karoo Ouberg lodge was available and affordable. The room is huge! Could easily be divided into two. The bathroom is almost the same size! Friendly staff, clean and tidy. Short walk into town.

It was extremely cold there. Evening 23 May there was a 5 hour 37 minutes loadshedding with 11° later 7° in the night 4° which was very bad. No heating no warm/hot water etc. They should consider alternatives during the winter

My daughter and I took a long road trip from Capetown to Naboomspruit and back. We slept in 11 wonderful guest houses and then we got this one. The place is old and the facilities are old and of low quality. When we complained about no water in the shower, the owner was extremely rude. I would not recommend this facility at all! Stay away!

Honestly wish we could leave no stars. I will start with the positive. The reception lady was very nice and accommodating. That's it. Other than that, everything is as bare minimum, cheap and outdated as it can possibly be. We arrived after riding 9 hours through the Karoo on a motorcycle. Loadshedding started at 8pm at which point we were ready for a much needed shower and sleep only to find that THERE IS NO HOT WATER. After a very unhappy phonecall to reception, the owner phoned me back which I appreciated. Our conversation consisted of her explaining that this often happens in this area during loadshedding which I have sympathy for. When I asked her why no one warned us when we were checking in, that we wouldn't be able to shower, she became extremely defensive and rude. She went on to say that "people who want refunds always say the same things" insinuating that I was a scam artist I was dumb struck. This insult was the cherry on a very nasty cake. DO NOT BOOK HERE. What a bad experience for a exclusive 3 * rating. Not a great way to end your lovely holiday. On arrival getting into our room there was half a toilet roll, with no replacement, we were 3 people in the room we had to ask for extra cup to have coffee. which could not happy The power went out and there was no plan B with any candles or a torch to help with any light in the room. When the power went out the water also disappeared. No back up plan to assist with water. This is really not worth the money.

Not worth the money. Aircon remote no batteries. Extractor fan in Bathroom very noisy. Bad smell in room. Did not know about our reservation at arrival.

Loadshedding. No alternative lightning provided, no water due pumps not runningRooms: 5/5

We were so disappointed. Half a toilet roll, no replacement. No water in the hot water tap in the shower & basin in the morning so could not shower. Quite noisy.
