The Klerksdorp Museum is housed in a number of buildings. The main museum (a former prison), is a beautiful sandstone building completed in 1891 and features archaeology, cultural history, farm implements and animal drawn vehicles. There are period exhibitions in the adjacent Warden's House as well as regularly rotating temporary exhibitions that are housed throughout the Museum.

Located corner of Margarieta Prinsloo & Lombaard Street, the Klerksdorp Museum also offers Mampoer & Witblits for sale. Exhibits also depict early town life, social history and local geological history. Fascinating tours (also of various other heritage sites in the city) available by appointment at the Klerksdorp Museum.

Very interesting little piece of the local history, definately worth a visit.

Friendly staff and very interesting cultural-historical displays

A hidden treasure of a museum, it the grounds of the old prison but has a lot of other interesting artifacts there. Very well kept and the manager on duty has a real passion for the place and can share so many stories. Well worth the vist

2019  Till today i am still looking for this site...no proper directions to visit and give a review 2023  Owner reply they pinned on the map....will not visit, but thank you for the reply 4 years later.Visited onWeekday

Visited this little treasure by accident and we were blown away...covid protocols in place and very informative security guard that turned into a guide of sorts.Loved the exhibition on the history of the area....

Not what I expected from a museum but hosting kids party is enjoyable
