Goals and Objectives of the Academy:
• Build character, knowledge, and integrity among children and youth
• Engender a culture of racial integration, respect and appreciation
• Help to identify latent skills and talents in individuals for the performance arts and associated professions
• Provide quality music instruction through the establishment of teaching venues accessible to the economically challenged communities
• Promote cultural integration using music and the creative arts as social bridges for community upliftment
• Holistically develop youth talents and leadership abilities through mentorship programmes and other social support activities
• Utilise local talent, teachers and venues and encourage community participation and support
Our current activities include:
• Hout Bay Voices of multicultural youths aged between 13 and 22
• over 120 pupils, including 60 individual pupils learning a variety of musical instruments, 15 of whom are fully funded
• KMA Jazz Band
• Beginner strings, Brass and woodwind Groups
• Senior Chamber Ensemble
• Weekly adult community singing evenings
• Developing African instrument orchestra including marimba and djembe groups
• Fledgling Junior orchestra
• Regular Concerts
• Workshops and seminars for both KMA pupils as well as the general community of Hout Bay
