I have been ordering food from Hao Ke Lai since they opened in Linden. A few weeks ago my brother and I ordered take aways and we both commented that something had changed and it was no longer as good as it usually is. I ordered again and it was definitely not the same, noodles tasted like they had been sitting for ages and the flavour was off. I took the food back and requested a refund which the manager refused to do, telling me that the noodle are made fresh and that they was nothing wrong with the dish. He said i could order something else, by now my wish for Beef chow mein was gone.Clearly the manager has zero concern for the customer and for retaining customers as i will never set foot in their again after that experience
It was my first time today trying Hao Ke Lai sushi. I ordered the Fantasy Platter 16pcs as a takeaway. DIVINEEEE. Absolutely enjoyed it thoroughly WOW WOW WOW. Definitely my new sushi takeout spot. Loved the service too. The ladies were so friendly. Very wonderful environment. I cannot fault anything. VERY REASONABLY PRICED TOO which is a BONUS.
Was a pleasant experience, pretty much the same in’it.
Ordered Woodong Chicken Soup but frustrating that the standard differs ....no egg added...no vegetables....just broth and chicken!! Vegetable Spring Rolls good.Food: 2/5
I bought beef chow mein, prawn cashew, and chicken cashew and was told I shouldve said I wanted the Chinese special before I paid to get the special. I also wasnt given a receipt.
Overall it's alright. Dumplings were dry and overcoocked, Handrolls see weed had a smell, Bowties had a packaging taste and Miso soup was bland.
I am a regular and I must say I am very disappointed in the portion size as of recent. Great food but don't be stingy!!
They don’t skimp on wasabi, soy sauce and ginger. Avo was perfect, salmon was fresh. I almost exclusively buy sushi only from Canterbury crossing hao ke lai. It’s very affordable consistently sized and always delicious. I don’t know what they do with their rice but it’s also always yummy. This linden hao ke lai sushi was precisely the same quality. Excited to come back to see if they stay consistent.
For the past 4 years I’ve been supporting their Randburg branch. I am happy to report that I will now going forward be supporting the linden branch. Food is of the same quality, if not better. The sushi here is excellent. Honestly, sometimes they take a while, especially at the Randburg branch, and with the sushi. But regardless of the wait, we always return. Thanks for a great food experience. Happy to accommodate the waiting time.
Hao Ke Lai is a shameful attempt at Asian Chinese/Japanese food. Whomever is cooking the food has clearly never tasted Asian cuisine. Key ingredients are missing from the dishes. The flavour, taste and resemblance of the dishes is bizarre and completely misaligned to the menu description. The care and detail of preparation which is the essence of Asian cooking is absent. I am quite sure old oil was used to prepare one of our dishes. Sadly we will never go back to Hao Ke Lai…this is very unfortunate as we were hoping this would be a new family favourite.
