The standard chocolate fudge 1.2kg is not bad! It just needs a little more chocolate. It’s not too sweet too so anyone who doesn’t like very sweet stuff can appreciate it more.
Personally, I find it used to be better, but still a cut above the likes of awfully chocolate or chocolate origin for me. As I prefers my chocolate cake to be moist and yet not overly sweet or jerlak.
While the cakes are nice and popular, the service is not. I ordered a log cake and it came in a box which is bigger than usual. It was already tied up with a ribbon so they didn't want to let me open up to take a look, there was no ice pack and no plastic bag, only the ribbon on the box to hold with. I commented that they should have a bag for bigger-sized box but the lady just ignored me and walked away. I also said that it's quite inconvenient to hold the cake this way as I had other errands to run but no one bothered, they just turned away and went about their tasks. It was not crowded at all, just me and another walk-in. The staff dampens the joy of cake collection from Lana.
Bought a 1.2kg cake for $55. Cake was moist and not overly sweet but it not very chocolatey. The frosting over the cake has a ?palm oil after taste which stays on the palate and not very pleasant.
Note : Following this review, I received a phone call from the manager the next day, who apologised for their mishandling of the situation. Utterly horrible experience. Lana Cakes is well known for its quality, no doubt. This review, however, is about its appalling service. An unnecessary argument arose out of extremely poor operations and service. An unreasonable older lady wrongfully accused my mom of jumping queue, and refused to back down even when witnesses in the queue stood up to clarify the truth. Her incessant rambling resulted in a most unpleasant atmosphere. Throughout this debacle, the staff did not say a word to clarify, nor made any attempt to diffuse the tension. My mom had shown the order confirmation pre-ordered and pre-paid to the staff at least twice, and was told to wait, without any explanation. Meanwhile, at least five 5 people who were behind her in the queue subsequently collected their cakes, including a lady who did not place an order but came to purchase one on the spot. Keeping in mind that all the cakes collected by the people behind her in the queue were exactly the same as the one we ordered and had to be brought to the back for greetings to be piped, there is NO REASON for the delay. It’s illogical. The whole collection process for a prepaid order with a pre-written greeting became a 30 minute nightmare. Meanwhile, the staff appeared to do their best to ignore her. She never received any explanation for the delay. Witnesses will verify that she was never difficult to the staff despite having to see identical cakes being bagged and given to a customer queueing behind her numerous times. I really hope that management will do something about this. It has left a real sour taste in the mouth.
I have savored this chocolate cake for ages. Almost 30 years ago, my mom first brought home the chocolate cake, I fell in love with it. The chocolate frosting was soft and creamy, just the right amount of sweetness. The chocolate layering inside was heavenly. Today, I believed the recipe has been tweaked; the sweetness has been reduced I love it and the moisture inside the cake is amazing. Soft, creamy and rich chocolate taste, I am still in love with it. For a simple “less” sinful chocolate cake experience, you must try Lana Cake. It’s truly the best.

Nestled in a secluded area of Upper Bukit Timah, it’s not the most accessible cake shop if you do not own a car. It is however, one of the best chocolate cake that I had so far : - Chocolatey, yet it doesn’t feel sinful - Moist, especially rare since chocolate is a dry ingredient - Spongy, really good mix of flour for it to be so soft to the touch, yet maintaining its shape/structure - Not gelak, unlike most others Having made something simple so good is really exceptional
Nice and friendly service . Was able to call in and order CNY specific wordings without fuss Good old chocolate cake that reminds me of my childhood cakes.
