Mac Mac Pools

We often go hiking in this area and it's still a favourite for spectacular views and landscape. The infrastructure of the picnic area is not well maintained, although functional. The pools have been fenced off. The trail is overgrown and not easy to follow anymore; this could be due to the recent rains and perhaps it will be cleared as the season changes. It's best to have cash on hand to pay the small entrance fee.

Fantastic natural pools formation. Clean water, crisp temperature and easily accessible for families. Amazing gem this spot!

What a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT!! We will never go there again! It is a waste of entry fee money @ R36 p.p. for nothing. All the Pools are fenced off. You cannot reach it. No swimming is allowed. No more braais.

We visited during a bit of a rainy week and there was quite a bit of mist. You can swim here on warm days Amazing scenery, it was clean however the entrance would have been much better if they accepted card payments.

During a recent trip to this area my wife and I decided to visit some of the tourist attractions here. The Mac Mac pools was on that we selected. The area is primarily for picnic and BBQ and maybe a swim in the pools. We just wanted to have a look but still had to pay the entry fee for the full day. I understand that the fees must be collected, but it maybe a good option to have a tiered system that includes, viewing only vs picnic and BBQ and swimming. That will probably increase the total revenue as more people passing will enter to view. The staff was very friendly and cannot be faulted on anything, the area was clean, however I noticed some maintenance required on some infrastructure.

Amazing place to view, a must when in the area. One of natures gems! Great to picnic with family and swimming allowed in top and bottom pools.

What a wonderful place. The entrance fee is R20 per person and I think that it was well worth it. One of the most underrated places in Mpumalanga. The waterfalls and pools are fantastic and the kids and I had a great time swimming and exploring. The picnic and braai facilities are great and there are change rooms and toilets which were in a good condition.

Despite signs saying no loud music or alcohol, lots of people were smoking hubbly and drinking and yelling in the pools where you can swim. We had to walk far upstream to have some peace and quiet. Despite noisy tourists, the views are lovely and the water is refreshing.

Still Pretty but No Maintenance is being done. Pot Holes , Load Shedding , No Cell Phone Reception very Frustrating. Toilets in poor state.

Rather visit the Mac Mac falls. The pool is fenced off and there's a fee of R36 per person which much more than the other falls, really not worth it in my opinion. No swimming allowed.
