Dr Kourie is on the Discovery Smart Network and this was why my husband and I went to see him, although I was apprehensive. My husband had a very bad cold and Dr Kourie was incredibly thorough, friendly, honest and made no mention of antibiotics which was a change for us! I will take antibiotics if a doctor prescribes them, but antibiotics also seem to come from the most dismissive doctors, which Dr Kourie was not. We also went to him when we had covid and he offered rapid testing at his rooms and referred us for a PCR test if we wanted to do that. Top quality doctor! Have recommended him to friends who have also been impressed.
Firstly, the practice could do with some updating. Everything is ancient, including their way of communicating. I'm sure Dr. Kourie isn't a bad doctor but his communication regarding sensitive health issues is not good. My experience has not been pleasant. I have been unwell for the past few weeks and have been waiting blood test results and Dr Kourie could not give me a 2 min call to discuss the results. Not to forget that when I saw him, he wanted to do blood tests because he suspected something "sinister" like Glandular Fever or Lymphoma. This is not an appropriate way to communicate at such an early stage. I have been stressing since my visit to him 2 days ago. His receptionist could not be bothered, I've been calling all day and she keeps asking me to call back. This is unacceptable communication regarding such a sensitive matter like blood test results. To top it off, he was unapologetic for this trauma when I physically went in to collect the results because I was tired of waiting. The emotional trauma of this visit has not been worth it. Would not recommend.
He was my families doctor for years, but gave us topical cortizone cream that treats rash for years. We are now going through TSW. It is when the body gets addicted to the cream. Withdraw symptoms are horrendous and debilitating. It takes months to years to overcome and has a bone deep itchiness, can cause depression, a loss of apitite and other symptoms. Most doctors do not recognise this, but there are many documented accounts. I would like to bring this to his attention to forewarn him of prescribing the cream beyond the recommended time. And please anyone reading this steriods creams are amazing but don't over use it. My sister is still suffering and I've only just recovered. I am not a doctor but I have ruled out any other cause .
Made an appointment with him 14 March for Saturday 19 March at 9:00. Arrived here and he apparently decided on the 17th that he's going away for the weekend. His staff apparently left a message on my phone.......? I'm an online teacher, my phone is not near me during most of the day and I didnt ger a norification of a pending message. I'm off to find another doctor. One who keeps his schedule.
I am generally in great health, but when I need to, I always see Dr Kourie as he is my GP. Dr Kourie never disappoints. He is very knowledgeable and always makes you feel comfortable and at ease. You can always expect smiles and a friendly welcome when visiting this practice. Thank you for always assisting and helping doc.
Dr. Kourie has been my GP for more than 25 years. I am lucky and generally have good health so don't see him often, but when I do need medical advice or treatment, he is always very professional and very helpful. Well liked by many members of the community!
The receptionist won't even consider Dr Kourie emailing a script to a pharmacy in Cape Town, for my husband's anti-depressants and mood stabilisers. How can someone be so cruel? Utterly devastated.
This is a doctor that sincerely cares about who you are and your entire well-being. He has been my GP for over 20yrs and has sincerely helped me become a better man and person physically. Thank you Doc for just simply being amazing!!
My experience with Dr kourie, was utterly disappointing. I went there a week ago,I got no feedback and no medication.Today I went again with the same problem, I had to wait an hour whilst there’s no Patients,no greetings from him and a questionable prescription that the pharmacist had to call the him to verify. I wonder if it’s all based on the color of skin.
I am so disappointed in Dr Anthony Kourie. On Monday 11th November i came to work and i had this terrible cough to which my manager told me to go see a Dr. I get to Dr Kourie and he tells me it's a minor cough and that it will go away in a day. as a result, he gives me NOTHING for the cough. It's wednesday today, i'm back at work WORSE than i was on Monday. The cough has gotten worse and my ankle is swollen. My wellbeing was taken for granted. I guess i wasted my money, fuel , time , energy and trust, all because he thought i was there for a sick note. Now i have to leave work early again to consult another Dr. Thanks for nothing Dr Kourie :
