Very often with medical situations, the doctors we use inform where we will be hospitalised. This has been the case with my in-laws who I administrated for over the past 3-4 years; the latest being with my mother-in-law who was admitted to Midvaal Private Hospital on at least 3 occasions this year before passing away there at the beginning of May 2023. It was alarming to witness the lack of communication or miscommunication? between nursing staff and attending doctors, as well as between the various shifts. Many nurses are unskilled at caring for the elderly, and necessities such as turning patients and nappy care are lost arts. While I wouldn't dare to bare all that we witnessed, I would suggest, that if it is in your power, choose another hospital. That said, there were also one or two kind souls and old-school nurses who did their profession proud; these stars are for you.
Absolutely fantastic service! From receptionist, nursing staff, doctors, kitchen staff, cleaners. Everyone was just amazing! Food was fantastic, hospital is clean, night staff was not noisy. Would recommend anyone to this hospital.
My 6 year old went in for his tonsils and adenoids with dr Crosby. All the staff was excellent. Service was GREAT ! Thank you so much this hospital and staff never disappoints.
I have been here since 11 this morning with my 84 year old father who is waiting to have a melanoma removed, we are still waiting for him to go into theatre, I absolutely disgusted no one has been to tell us why we have need waiting so long, I will never advise anyone to be admitted, I was also told I was not allowed into the ward with him as they keep strict visiting hours, my husband and I are his care givers.
The staff are wonderful but the doctors don't give any feedback. Pathetic service. My mom has been admitted twice. Last time Saturday the 5th of November. Its now Tuesday the 8th of November and I have received NO feedback at all. I am my mom's caregiver but I am not allowed info about her. The unit manager said she it not allowed to give any information because ofvthe poppi act. So they say I must go sit at the physician's practice until she can talk to me. Do these doctors think we don't also have jobs and responsibilities. Must we after every test go sit at their practices to find out what is wrong with our loved ones 4days later if you are lucky. She has dimentia so can't give feedback. Don't they have telephones? I asked on multiple occasions for her to please phone me. What if I couldn't come and she were released. Who takes liability if something happens to her at home because of lake of info given to the family? Why can some doctors take the time to communicate via phone calls or emails and some not? Dr. Voight at Vereeniging Mediclinic are the best. He phoned and explained everything regarding her bladder issues in detail. I was so impressed. Some doctors can learn communication etiquette from him. Everytime my family phones to ask about my mom I feel like a fool because I still don't have any answers to give them because I am struggling to beg the doctor to give me a bit of time to discuss her path forward. This protocol is unprofessional and frustrating. Hoping she will contact me tomorrow. I send yet another email to her practice.
Has got to be the worst service I have ever received from a medical practitioner. My wife was admitted to hospital on Tuesday 6th September 2022 for tests to determine why she is continuously light head and short of breath. Numerous tests, x-rays, scans, heart echos blood tests were executed over the next 24 hours. At 12:30 on Wednesday 7th September 2022 we were told to go back to the ward and wait for the doctor. 4 hours and 15 minutes later after querying if the doctor would still be coming that day, we were told by the sister of the ward the doctor is not coming to the ward and we must go home. And to come back to the rooms the next day. We did not insist on being discharged. We simply requested the ward sister to try and find out what was going on. I phoned 13 times on Thursday morning before the phone was answered. I was told by the doctor's receptionist that the doctor would get back to my wife during that day. At 08:00 on the next day, Friday 9th September i tried phoning the doctors rooms to find out what was going on. I tried 6 times. Every time the call went to voice mail. It was then that I decided to write this review. The doctor did contact my wife and give feedback during the morning of Friday 9th September. Close to 36 hours after being told "the doctor is doing her rounds now and will be with you soon". I was contacted by Dr Goldswain this afternoon, the 9th September and agreed to her request to update this review so that it would be a more accurate reflection of events.
My son was there on Friday for a surgery and everything went well. All the staff was so friendly and professional from the reception till all the nurses and doctors that assisted him.
I am forever grateful to the staff at Midvaal Private Hospital. I have never been treated so well at a hospital before. The staff are kind, gental, compassionate & responsive. As a visually impaired person I felt very safe there which is something I don't always feel. Special thanks to the staff at Casualty, as well as the kindly Doctor Mogogelane who treated me, the staff of Ward 6 & especially Sarel, the best nurse I've ever had.
Horrible horrible hospital. They do not care about the patient, they are inept, insensitive and unprofessional.
Excellent care and professional staff. One staff member that stands out is Pietru Wilson. In Cardio Thoracic unit. She is the most compassionate person I've ever met. Our grandmother passed recently. The care she received from her was unbelievable. She is definitely a great asset to your hospital. The world needs more people like her. Thank you. May she be blessed abundantly
