On arrival, our room smelt sour. Cupboards smelt damp. Reception staff are super friendly! Wait Staff at the bar and eating area seem fairly disinterested and tend to forget about their customers. Food was ok. Location is stunning! Plenty of activities too! Just note than certain activities - ie the Spa, Sauna and Live Music are only available on weekends. Great place for kids, but in terms of value for money, not too sure!
What a wonderful week spent at Mpekweni Beach Resort. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and spacious. The resort has been kept neatly. Family enjoyed canoeing, swimming pool, mini golf, pool tables, squash and even Play Station. There was table tennis, tennis and darts as well. Buffet was delicious and had many options. Live music on the weekend was enjoyable. Some good wine found on the winelist. A la carte lunch menu also offered some delicious surprises. Lovely relaxing 5 days. Worth the travel.
For the past 14 years our family has had absolutely wonderful December holidays at Mpekweni. The setting is stunning, the rooms are comfortable, the staff are great. Every year I love it more than the year before. Highly recommended if you have a young family and even if you don't.
We came all the way from Grahamnstown and to be told that they only serve breakfast until 10:00 and mind you we signed at the gate at 09:49. Never mind that, they eventually made us breakfast but we were told that they could only serve us omelet or English breakfast. We ordered English breakfast, I was not impressed at all, I thought bacon was biltong. Everything was just terrible. I would never even recommend someone to go there.
A magical destination. Beautiful room with a door onto the beach! The evening buffet is exceptional. Amazing gardens. A great find along the coast of the Eastern Cape. However, make sure you pack a two prong plug! None in the room.
Great service, great venue and amazing views! I was part of a group of about 20 and there were also other large groups during my stay and I was amazed at how efficient the service was.Rooms: 5/5
Cannot gush enough about this well run and friendly resort. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and many special memories were made during our stay. Rooms: Our room was on the beachfront, falling asleep to the crashing of the waves was amazing. Nearby activities: The beach at Mpekweni is pristine and unspoilt, saw buck and big lizard spoor, even spotted old whale bone Safety: We felt safely cocooned in the beautiful grounds Walkability: Quite a few stairs within the resort but wheelchair access is available. Food & drinks: Cannot even begin describe the culinary delights that we enjoyed. The food is generous, fresh, beautifully prepared and presented. Noteworthy details: Noteworthy for me were the special "extras" like the live entertainment during dinner.
It was exuberant, I had the best time of my life.i wish can get a permanent job so that I could take my family there because Wow!! Mpekweni is really a place to be Rooms: Very neat and clean Beautiful inside Safety: It feels like home it's safe Walkability: 2 minute walk to the beach oh I love it Food & drinks: Very nice
A few hiccups - TV remote was not in the room and after advising the staff and being assured I would be sent one, it was never delivered. In the meeting room the supplied data projector had a faulty cable. Otherwise all good. As usual the food was excellent.
Self-catering units was aweful. Dirty. Got stung by bees in room. Pool tiles broken Very dissappointingService: 1/5
