Me and my wife went this past weekend to rivieredge lodge. What an awesome experience we had. So much privacy. We stayed in Benjamin cottage. Worth the money.The beds was so comfortable i actually wanted to load the beds on the back of the bakkie Everything was very tidy. The staff was also very helpful. The braai area and the Jacuzzi we loved so much.we didn't want to leave.definitely a place were you can relax and gain your strenth.
Second time we have been here and very happy to report it is still a fantastic place to chill especially if you have a fury friend. Highly recommendedRooms: 5/5
Bjorn D. Happy to report that the bed basis and mattress at Joubert house were replaced and that the baboon troop roamed into the pass. The working blueberry farm has also completed the new orchard. Not a bother anymore. The house has a new kolkol wood fired hot tub and is great during load shedding. The lovely Lecreuset kettle and gas stove does wonders as well!
For the money, we expected so much more. We stayed in the Joubert house, and while there are a lot of great things about this place, the cons are a dealbreaker. The two major things that make or break a weekend away: Beds/Sleep and Bathing/Cleanliness. Unfortunately both were a disaster. The mattresses are extremely old and very uncomfortable. I've never slept so poorly when away. The hot water pressure is measly when there is hot water. The mixers don't work properly, and therefore you have an option of extremely hot, or extremely cold. I ended up bathing in the KolKol to keep myself clean. While the other houses have proper docks, this one has a slippery, steep embankment, making it a nightmare to use the boat with one oar - helpful, or the canoe. Important to note that the Joubert deck also faces a "working farm" which had us watching and listening to workers putting up massive netting and shouting at each other. So much for privacy and tranquility! They've also conveniently forgotten to mention the massive baboons roaming the area. Quick the surprise running into a massive troop on a hike. There are much better places for this kind of money in the area...

What a peaceful, beautiful stay! Very well appointed stone cottage on the river. Spacious wooden deck with jacuzzi and fireplace, comfy beds, and magnificent mountain views all around. Fabulous birdwatching from the deck and on the river, gin and wine tasting on your doorstep, and lovely eateries and little towns around every corner.
This is it. I have traveled far and wide across the world and this is the best attention to detail and most professional and well kitted out accommodation I have ever found. I cannot more highly recommend this place and stress booking more than one night and in advance. No cell phone service, but fast enough WiFi for downloads and video calls for work.
My favourite spot on the Breede River. The cabins are well equipped and well kept. Each cabin has a jacuzzi and honestly, you cannot beat the views. Private, secluded and quiet, this is tranquility in the heart of the valley. Great for kids, pets and families, there is hiking trails, mountain biking and fishing. Highly recommended
River's Edge always delivers great service. The place is always clean with a welcome note to make you feel at home. Braai wood is provided and the shop nearby is welcoming and well stocked. The scenery is divine and the jacuzzi is always warm and ready as soon as you arrive. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to get away for a few days
Overall the place is great, however I feel they must make an effort to inform the current state of the river which is almost non-existent. We went for a weekend away exclusively chose this place for our dogs to swim on this weekend away. The proximity to the river made us choose this place, but be aware there's no river as probably it is affected by the water situation. So I would say if you are looking for a river exclusively like we were rather go somewhere else for now or contact the place before booking to find out the depth of it at the time as it may vary.
