Bad customer service from the petrol attendants,you lose even the little patience you have. I'm not happy as a customer but either than that it's clean and it's got most things you'd need while traveling.
The Shell in Mthatha is clean and has a lot of parking space. The petrol attendants are attentive and friendly. There are a few choices for meals. Toilets are clean. It is one of the best stops in Transkei.
A very busy but convenient stop on the N2 between Durban 500km est, East London 220km and Port Elizabeth 540km. This stop allows you to refresh and fill up with fuel for your car and some needed refreshments for your body. Apart.from there always well stocked Shell select store, they also have Steers, Debonairs and KFC. As convenient and bustling as the place may be, keep your vigilance, there are occasional scammers and car signal jammers on the prowl. The garage seemed to have ramped up their interest in the safety of the area as I noted that petrol attendants also double up as temporary car guards during peak times.

I comment as a truck driver, when it comes to shower , I've waited for more then 45 minutes just to have a shower, since they got only one door to go through, until I quit, even to get tap water, it a problem.
I was very disappointed, on of the petrol attended refusing the check the tyre pressure while I'm pouring petrol and I was driving from home back to Joburg. It's an old guy told me straight that he won't. No more shell Ultra city.
Terrible counter service for coffee. The employee did not know how to use the register, nor did she know how to make the coffee. Absolutely tasteless coffee and terrible service.
