We've been coming here for over 9 years now and it's always a pleasure. Neat and tidy. Natural surroundings well maintained for the animals. I noticed that the Tigers are being relocated to an ideal larger space on the premises, which is fantastic. There's a large recreation area that kids will thoroughly enjoy. Benches and tables make up a suitable seating area. Lastly, the animals themselves are interesting and fascinating! Each habitat has a description and fun facts of the animal, making it a learning experience as well for both kids and adults. Its a fun day out for the whole family.
Those poor tigers pacing up and down, clearly frustrated. The poor chimpanzees with dirty water to drink, clearly their spirits are broken in such a small enclosure. The leopards have totally lost their hunting skills. The bird life was great though. The food at the shop was fantastic. Would I go there again? Yes because it's an ideal place for a picnic and it's so relaxing being surrounded by nature. I love animals and I feel for them.
Lovely place for the kids and adults alike. Small enough to do in one afternoon. There is a small restaurant Cafe and clean toilets. Quite a diverse amount of exotic animals and birdlife. The cost to enter is R80 for adults and R50 for kids under 12. I am sure that your visit to the gardens will show your support for the upkeep of the facility and for the care of the animals.
First visit to the Natal Zoological Gardens. They have an impressive collection of cycads planted all over the open areas. Some interesting bird species too. There is a Cafe there where you can sit and enjoy pizza, toasted sandwiches etc. Well worth a visit. Relaxing atmosphere. I enjoyed some time with the lions, observing them while they were napping.
Tranquil Environment. Loved everything there. From Scenery, Birds, Lions, Tigers etc. Well groomed as well. Picnic Area with Braai facilities. Overlooking mountaintops. Give yourself the whole day when coming here - There's a whole different areas we never got to due to time.
It was an awesome family day...the atmosphere, the animals, the water park, the play areas all make for a perfect outing for the little ones and adults. It was a lovely experience seeing these beautiful animals and the views were gorgeous
Absolutely amazing, the animals were awesome, place was clean, staff was friendly especially the lady at the entrance ticket office and the ground staff were groung guides. There's an area for kids party's, kids play area, mini put-put, braai area and pool with slides. The entire experience was besides everything else most educational to my 2 & a half year old angel grandson. This is a MUST for your BUCKET LIST.
Such a fun place for kids in nature. We spent the whole day and saw different kinds of animals. The kids enjoyed the play area and trampoline. There’s also a water slide for kiddies.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great place for the family to relax. Lots of shade and seating. Children's play area. Bring your picnic, braai or food can be purchased from the Cafe - we enjoyed the pizza. They also have a splash park but we did not make use of it.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I loved this place because they have almost everything, from lions , & tigers to birds They also have swimming pool They also have small shops in the premises You can buy birds food & feed them However, I believe everything station where you're required to view animals in a cage must have benches to sit in when you feel tired of standing, but these sit in benches are not provided everywhere like it is in Shaka marine world I also think when it comes to parking lot they can do better
