Description

The Neighbourgoods Market is an independent initiative founded in 2006 by entrepreneurs Justin Rhodes and Cameron Munro, whose aim is to revive and reinvent the Public Market as a civic institution. This award-winning market features over 100 specialty traders every Saturday, creating a weekly platform for local farmers, fine-food purveyors, organic merchants, bakers and distributors, grocers, mongers, butchers, artisan producers, celebrated local chefs, and micro enterprises.

The market is housed in an old sky-lit brick warehouse and courtyard at the Old Biscuit Mill in the industrial neighbourhood of Woodstock, Cape Town. It is as much a source for farm fresh as well as organic foods and locally produced specialty goods, as it is a meeting point to enjoy community, swap ideas and stories, and become educated about what we buy and eat by going directly to the source. A calendar of seasonal events, specialty festivals, and live music feature throughout the year.

Absolutely awesome variety of street food, from many countries of origin, like Korea, Philippines, Ethiopia, Greece, and many more Also many different pastries, cakes, & desserts from a variety of countries, fresh juice-combo vendors too . . . It's an indoor venue, so weather conditions are never a problem : and live music too
Absolutely gorgeous market, I got here a little late but was lucky enough to be greeted with some good music and good vibes upon arrival. Stopped to soak in the sun and the energy and carried on into the food market, where you'll find everything, anything and something you never knew existed for the tastebuds. The prices are reasonable at some food stalls and others are over priced but at the end of the day, it's still worthwhile just enjoying the food, the company and the moment regardless of the price. Alcohol is available and there's a massive selection as well, just drink responsibly please. So it's a little risky getting stuck into the booze on a Sunday, especially if you're a worker bee like me and have work on a Monday. So I decided to keep it tidy and just settled for an iced coffee, which was made to perfection to be honest and so was my lobster roll I ate earlier. The DJ was dropping bangers left and right and the dance floor area was on fire, packed like sardines and a great crowd kept the energy flowing like water. All in all, it was a great few hours spent. I'll be back soon but earlier next time. As the opposite side has a whole other shopping experience, from homemade arts and crafts to restaurants and everything in between. Security was on top form and it's a great place to bring the family for a few hours.
Nice place to visit , wide variety of international cuisine , lovely music sets a vibrant ambience.... Lots of antiques and other interesting artifacts to buy or simply to enjoy a cup of coffee.....
A very unique experience to be transported to a different time zone .....if u love to entice your culinary taste buds,do yourself a favor and go and enjoy yourself for a few hours. Brilliant idea. Firstly just went with the wife and then revisited with the kids. And if your a parent with teenagers, you kno it's difficult to impress them or even get them away from that cellphone, but they loved it. Highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for something different to do.
We really enjoyed finding this market located in the Old Biscuit Mill. They had live music, people dancing, and an incredible amount of food to try from all different cuisine types. Make sure you come hungry to this spot as you’ll want to try so many different things. Some stores only accepted credit card, but some also accepted the South Africa. Rand. There is private security which makes you feel safe in a not so safe neighborhood outside the walls. For tourists, please take an Uber here. Do not walk to or from or wander around outside.
Had a great couple of hours here - awesome selection of delicious things to eat - fun vibe going with the DJ - and a cheery feeling all around - did feel that the vegetable seller overcharged however - and the champagne was a bit steep too - otherwise a good afternoon out!
Great food and gorgeous things to buy. A pleasant place to have some brunch and catch up with friends.
Love it here. Second time visiting and there’s always great music and different cultural food to choose from. From culture to sweet baked goods you will find it here. So much various dishes to try.
Well worth the visit for any local or passing tourists. Location has a fair amount of food stalls with from different cultures and cuisine. Asian food seems to be the most popular. Food court areas are divided into 2 areas, one with restaurants and indoor seating and the stall areas were people can sit at shared long tables which are often full. Staff are on hand to clean up including toilets. Neat area as well. Plenty of overpriced stores that cater to the tourist currency. Parking is definitely an issue so side streets which are overrun with locals charging you to park on road seems to be the only option. Keep your valuables close by as there are many opportunities for pick pocketers.
The vegan spring rolls from the booth in the back left corner and the chicken samosas from the Cape Malay booth on the left closer to the front were amazing. I went back to get some for a flight and they were just as good cold. Lots of other delicious food in there too
