Fantastic German restaurant, great beers and desserts. We love the sauerkraut, red cabbage and the bratwurst.Food: 5/5
1dt visits. It was a time since I was in a restaurant. The service was par to none and the food quality excellent! I got the braised pork & my companion had salmon also we had escargot a d potato packages along with red cabbage. In summary, it was a great dining experience. Recommended!!!Food: 5/5
I love German food as it's similar to my countries cuisine, plus beer is awesome. Also has cool WW2 memorabilia on display plus slick collection of guns and rifles so it's kinda museum/restaurant. Definitely recommend to my friends.Food: 5/5
If you're not hungry, don't waste your time and money here. The bread assortment with bleu cheese and cinnamon butters was a standout, but the sausage plate was room temperature and the German mustard and strong horseradish did not improve it. Service was okay. Not worth $95+ tip to me to see the collection.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fun! Definitely worth the hour drive it takes for us to get there! German food with large portions!
I have no issues making the 45 minute drive out here. The food, beer, and service is perfect.Food: 4/5
Chef Klaus Die Bier Stube is a Frankfort staple and has been for many years. Originally in downtown Frankfort, the original Chef Klaus Die Bier Stube burned down from a kitchen fire in 2001. Operations then moved to the current location. The menu is pretty much all German food with a wide selection of snitzels, authentic sausages, and my favorite, the pork shank on a bed of sauerkraut and your choice of potato. I had at least five of these when traveling in Germany; ones that were crispy in the north, to ones that were not in the south. The one at Chef Klaus ranks near the top of them all. One of the best features of the place is the German beer. Where else in south Chicagoland can you get a liter of authentic German beer served in a one liter beer mug and the mug is straight from the Hofbrau House in Munich Germany? The atmosphere of the place is also quite unique. The walls are literally covered with game heads, photos, planes, guns, and other interesting items. Everywhere you look is another conversation piece. So if you want an authentic German food experience with great beer and atmosphere, you can’t get any better than this. Expect a bill for two close to $100 especially if you partake of the beer and order two meals. But the expense is well worth it.
Love this place. It was recommended to me by a friend from the local area, and I had to try it for myself. The service was amazing. The atmosphere and experience were very extra. Love the steins! The Oysters Rockefeller would have made it all worth it by themselves, but everything I tried was exceptional. Two massive thumbs up. Don't be afraid to try something new or different here.
This restaurant nestled in the shopping center off La Grange near Rt. 30 features an impressive amount of German decor from beer steins, plates, dolls, toy soldiers, clothing, model planes, taxidermy animals including a bear, and firearms yes, defunct guns hanging from the ceiling. There's an area that can be closed off for private events, there's some secluded booths, a bar area, and regular eating area, so lots of options. My first time visit included live entertainment in the form of a one-man band who played lots of German popular songs like Edelweiss, but he also belted out Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall, which was awesome, with accordion to boot. The service was great for a Saturday afternoon that was busy and we had a group of six. The food was great and while the prices are on the higher side, you get large portion servings so it makes up for it. This is definitely an 'experience' restaurant to dine in and the surroundings within are conversation starters.
The restaurant is very humble from the outside. But when you step into the main dining room I felt like I was stepping into little Europe. The food is amazing and well worth the price. Beers are excellent and a great selection.Food: 5/5
