I booked an overnight stay, without breakfast as I wanted an early start. The room was comfortable. I woke at 5.30am but I could not shower as there was no hot water and no one was available to assist me at that hour. The rate is per room and not per person which makes it very expensive for a single person.Rooms: 2/5
Had dinner at Die Oewer restaurant. Service was excellent and my husband enjoyed his lamb chops and veggie dinner with the local German brewed beer. I ordered the chicken cordon blue and was a bit disappointed with the dish. The ham could have been of better quality e.g. gypsy ham and abit more cheese. But the milk tart for desert was delicious. My recommendation is that one keeps with local produce, which is lamb!
What an awesome adventure. Location / People Service / Relaxing . Great tour around the area to get the reasons why this farm was developed into a small Afrikaans Community. Respect and all honor to the whole community that stands together and strives to live in a FREE and RESPECTFUL manner. The majority age group is 35 with lots of families with children. 2 schools and a Training Facility available. Housing complexes are all in process of new homes being built by the students and building contractors in Orania. Baie trots op al die mense met wie almal bedien in al die restaurante met respek... lank laas Oom en Tannie gehoor. Rooms: Well-equipped and beautiful decor. Very comfortable beds, spacious and spotless bathrooms. Most rooms have balcony access and awesome views of the Orange River. Nearby activities: There is a lot to see in Orania. Do the tour around Orania and get the history and facts from people who have lived there 14 years. Drive out to the Vanderkloof Dam old P K Le Roux Dam which is a Hydro Electric dam. Visit the HF Verwoerd museum and take a walk to the top of the hill where there is a few statues of former Prime Ministers that is now standing proud on hill overlooking Orania with the flag of Orania standing proudly in the wind Safety: Very safe. No one makes you feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Treated with great respect by everyone in the area. One does not need to worry about even locking your room. Safe and free. Walkability: Safe to walk to everything. Walkways are well-demarcated. Wheelchair access to all the areas in the Hotel. Lots of stairs to climb to rooms upstairs but keeps one fit. Loved it. Food & drinks: Excellent food. Quality service and quality food prepared. Traditional meals that one would prepare at home. Big meals but delicious
We visited some family who live in Orania and stayed at the Oewer self catering chalets. This place was absolutely spotless and the location on the river was breath taking. I can absolutely recommend this place and would definitely stay there again. 10 out of 10 Rooms: Clean and well maintained Safety: Absolutely safe

The Oewerhotel has the ability to give you a tranquility and renewable love for nature. On the banks of the Oranjeriver this beautiful little gem of a place is situated. It's located in the Northern Cape but just across the river you will find yourself being in another province, the Free State. Great service and and wonderful restaurant makes for a great experience. The people are super friendly and definitely go the extra mile to give you the perfect stay that you long for. If and when you travel I would suggest you visit this place to see it for yourself. You can even rent a bicycle and take a drive in a crime free town. They have water sport and loads of tourism activities that they can cater for. Business trips is just as good. The staff is highly intelligent and takes care of details for your needs.
