Seems very helpful but after I saw him and he did a scan his diagnosis was waaay off. After extensive testing at a veterinary hospital to make sure. Had to redo the scan to check. Waste of money. I think he jumps to conclusions too quickly. Also tells you that your pet could die before seeing them. My pet had vomited once.
Incredibly happy with the service I got tonight. My snake got terrible pneumonia in both lungs, I phoned every vet in my area and no one could assist me. So out of desperation I phoned Parkland vet who was a full hour's drive away. Dr Pragdin was honest, straightforward and held nothing back. Treated my snake no less than he would treat a dog or a cat, with the utmost respect and gentleness. You can see he gas the biggest passion for the animals. Thank you Dr Pragdin, for helping me on a Sunday evening when everyone else told me to come back the next day. And for being so loving to my scaly puppy
Thank you to your team of professionals that assisted over the phone with an issue I was having with my furbaby. Your team brought instant reassurance, advice and assistance to a very stressed pet mom.
The receptionist told me the surcharge is after 18H00, we were charged this at 15H50+-. The vet misdiagnosed our pet too. He didn't pay attention the symptoms we described at all, and I think the wrong medicine was given without a doubt. Sadly the pet passed away the next day. Please pay more attention the when the customers speak and listen carefully to what the pet has gone through instead of rushing to conclusions
The most horrible experience I have had in my life. Unprofessional Pragdin who has no respect for human beings. He looked at my dog and without doing anything, he said she’s got cancer! Very expensive, rude, unprofessional Vet have ever encountered. Wouldn’t recommend Pragdin to anyone if you love your pet. Am disgusted to say the least!
Don't be fooled by other reviews!Vets a monster who isn't affordable at all and expects you to pay immediately don't take your animal here youl regret it.
Took our dog there for an emergency after he digested bonemeal. He was immediately seen and attended too. Thanks to the prompt assistance we received, our baby avoided poisoning and is still with us today!
Terrible experience. I had tried to phone ahead TWICE to let them know I was coming with an injured cat... No such luck. We arrived, only to wait 10 mins before someone came to the door. Another thing was then Dr Pragdin wasn't even there. We had to wait another 15 mins for him to arrive. We have a severely injured cat and we CANNOT wait over an hour to be seen. You say you are 24/7 but no doctor on site? No emergency phone lines answered? We decided to leave and go to Bryanston Vet who were ready and waiting for us by the time we arrived.
After +_ 10-15min of being there, we were not being told what to do nor what was going to happen next, till I made conversation asking the male how long he’d been practicing. He responded that he’s not the vet. After +_another 10min, Dr Pragdin arrived and we explained cause of injury. Dr Pragdin went on a tangent about how, contrary to belief, vet’s don’t make money, so if we think he’s charging a lot, it’ not much. He finished off saying, ‘We all have to eat’. For the +_25min we were there, we did not even discuss nor were we told what the cost was going to be. He instructed the young male to get the x-ray room ready. At this time there was another younger male present, dressed in regular civilian clothing and assumed he was a guest or family member of the younger black male. Aside from talking about his family and taxes, I mentioned that my mom would have taken the pup to the SPCA. Dr Pragdin went on a rampage that, 'SPCA don't care about animals, they just want a job. Look at how fat and round some of them are. They don’t even look after themselves. Don’t take your dogs to the SPCA.’ Booysens SPCA has always treated my mom respectfully & always attentive to the dogs & never talk bad about other veterinarians. When we asked if there’s any update, Dr responded with, ’The x-ray should be done soon, I know how long it takes. Also the other guy is new and learning’. Dr said that he requires a R4200 deposit, but can’t give a breakdown. Keep in mind, it is after-hours, but seems exorbitant. He also would not tell us cost of the 3 injections administered. Eventually X-rays were displayed & Dr pointed out, with his pen, the pelvic damage, fractured bones & could have organ damage. He pointed out the lower 3 vertebrae’s would require fusing. He repeated more than 3 times that this will not be a show dog. He said that specialists are hard to find and very expensive. This would cost us in the region of R40k to R50k...or just let it heal as it is, it won’t be a 'show dog'. Also the pup won't be able to walk on his own and will require additional post operation therapy which will increase costs. We asked about the organ damage. Dr said that if he doesn’t pee or sees blood, Milo will require a drip over night. Cost could be an additional R5000. We have no idea of costs, and R5k seems excessive for overnight and a drip, over and above the R4200. We were uneasy about how he spoke with us, discriminating towards other Vets, talking about money and how vets aren’t as fortunate. We feel all this talk was to prep us for a huge bill and hope that we feel his fees are justified. Mom picked him up the next day. He said he gave another sedative and is worth R600 but doing us a favour and not charging. His tone did not seem sincere. It felt more out of guilt and to silence us. Mom took Milo to the Specialist in Northcliff within the hour, as arranged by Dr Pragdin. The Specialist informed there is no pelvic NOR organ damage, NOR do the lower vertebrae require fusing. They asked to keep him for 3 nights to monitor him. The final bill was R3389.. less than the R4200 paid for a 1 night after hrs mis-service, carried out by an untrained, new staff member and misdiagnosed results by a certified vet. How does a qualified vet mis-read an X-ray & put us in panic? Possibly because it was taken incorrectly by an assistant teaching a new person, AND still charge R900 for this X-ray? Not only that, he tried to cover up and lie on Google review that he referred us to 'JHB Specialist Clinic’, when he in fact referred me to Northcliff. Which is where he sent my mom the morning she picked him up. Mom doesn't know any specialist so how would she go to a one other than what was referred?? From our experience, it feels like he extorts people using their emotions and attachments to the injured animal. This is unacceptable and not sure how he is still in business and supported by caring pet owners
Worst vet I’ve ever been to in my life. My cat gave birth the day prior, next day I could tell she was week and was like over salivating so I rushed her to the nearest vet. Which happened to be this one. Just for the consultation in was R1258 after which he said there ‘might be another kitten and we need to do an ultrasound then changed his mind and said she has hypocalcemia. Told me treatment would be R5000, when I opted to take her home and try give her the calcium she needs myself he went on and on about how she would die and when I asked where to get supplements wouldn’t help me. His assistant was touching my cats newborn kittens without gloves or anything , I had to intervene more than once because they are a day old so she could still reject them with a strangers smell on them. Asked for banking details to pay the money too for the consult since in the rush I left in, I left my card and he said we don’t give accounts only cash. My boyfriend has to rush to the nearest atm to take out a cashsend only for us to get the receipt and see the account details on it. When we brought the cash he says ‘we don’t usually accept cash’ then whilst he knows of my cats potentially deadly condition takes 20 minutes to get me change. After which he has the nerve to say everything is being recorded so I’m welcome to pay his technicians for the recording if I want. Like really? He is clearly only in it for money. Not even sure about his credentials. Would rather drive an hour next time than go to the likes of him. By Gods grace and thankfully the information shared with me by another vet I was able to help her through it.
