Our camp exclusively sleeps 12, Large deck with stunning views of the indigenous forests, outside chill areas, FREE Wifi, walk to the beach, surf, chill, walk, explore. I was supposed to stay 3 days and ended up staying 3 and a half weeks. This beautiful family can take you surfing, cook amazing food for you, there is yoga, trips and more adventures if you want. Also if you want you can just chill there by yourself. Rooms are nice and clean and there is plenty of space to relax inside and outside the house with a beautiful view. I met some amazing people there and I hope one day I will be back.

Absolutely shocking service. Pumula offers surfing lessons which we booked for and wanted to carry on weekly for a month. They devastated my 16 yo after a couple of lessons by just not re-booking us! Every single time I followed up with Hayley, she said she had "forgotten"! To date we received no follow up booking or photo's that were promised to us. Maybe they felt my son wasn't worth it because he has a tight muscle condition? Maybe they are against 'special needs' people? Maybe it was after I told Hayley that I would EFT and not pay cash anymore? Lord alone knows because their communication is basically terrible! They are even more expensive than others. I would absolutely never recommend them to anyone. Definitely go to Durban main for lessons. They are cheaper, don't discriminate and follow through!
Wonderful place, wonderful people. I was made to feel so at home by Justin, Hayley and their wonderful family including the cutest team of dogs !. Lovely vegan food, will be back !
We took some surf lessons during our stay in Pumula with Justin and Kei from the surf camp and it was just great! Although the conditions were tough they navigated us through the waves and provided an awesome learning experience tailored to our skill-level. Can’t say anything about staying at the camp, since we had a different accommodation but regarding surf lessons, absolute great experience and professional, friendly and caring atmosphere! Can't say enough about much I loved my stay here! I loved it so much, my 1 week reservation turned into 3 weeks!! And I actually learned to surf! They treat you as part of the family. Great location that was so relaxing! And the beach is just a short walk away. They are super accommodating for whatever you might need. I also got to do yoga and Reiki sessions. I can't wait to come back here one day!!
What an awesome place and the views and sun downers on the deck are like living a dream. The hosts are so friendly and the food is all fresh, yummy and organic. The South coast had the best waves and the locals really make you feel welcome. Loved our trip to the big 5 at Oribi Gorge as well. I'll definitely be coming back!!!
We stayed at Pumula surf camp for 2 nights, had a great time, and can recommend to anyone who enjoys personal and authentic experiences! Some bullets to summarise it: -- Very welcoming, chilled out, caring family that runs the place -- Hailey mom is a great cook and makes delicious beach breakfasts & dinners -- Justin dad is an ex pro surfer and takes you out on the waves. Was my first time surfing but think I fell in love a bit, partly due to the vibes he brings, and the good guidance. -- Super cool to visit one of the oldest surfboard factories in the hills that Justin runs with his brother, setup by their dad -- The rooms/compound are basic but very cozy, warm, personal, you just feel at home! Just go there, and experience the family/community vibe yourself, if you're open to meet new people and experience a family run surf camp/guesthouse, you'll enjoy it to the fullest!
World-class surf camp. Justin, the owner, is a former pro who is so knowledgeable and can improve your surfing, no matter your level . The vibe at the house is great; pizzas, live music and a comfortable atmosphere. Good WiFi, clean and full-on value for money. The surf camp is not a business, it's a way of life. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a great getaway.
