I have been to many facilities for my mental illnesses all around the country and by far this is the best facility I've ever been to. I see people complaining about the nurses. If you're kind and respectful to them they will reciprocate. Simple!

RIVERFIELD A place with caring and professional staff and an exceptional multidiscipline team. My father had been treated there after a massive stroke. I have experienced the utmost connection with the team, specifically the social workers Matome and Mmpula. The team was friendly, professional and caring and kept me informed. When I needed questions answered, the social workers would always come back to me within a short time. In a race against time for the medical aid, the doctor, social worker, dietician and therapist completed the necessary forms in a very short time. The staff were tender and respectful towards my father, making him comfortable and caring for him even though he could not speak or move after his stroke. Tomorrow he will be discharged and I will miss the people who have become like family in the last few months. Thank you to the team at Riverfield. Thank you for your sacrifice and love for others that you live out daily. You uphold the Hippocratic oath and will always be fondly remembered as giving my father another chance on life. Yvette Otto

Mental and Substance Wellness and Support centre situated in a peaceful setting. Nurses and staff are friendly and caring Classes every day and fantastic programs are offered Food is amazing. Amazing therapists and psychological assessors.

Mental and Substance Wellness and Support centre situated in a peaceful setting. Most nurses and staff are friendly and caring, however I do feel there is a big communication gap between front desk staff and nurses/councilors in the wards and classes which can and has posed problems for visitors. Food is amazing. Nurses need training and education on administering the correct medication for patients. Generic and Original are NOT the same thing. Patients need to remember it is your right to question your medication if you are uncertain and the nurse's obligation to honour your query. Small things need to change such as putting batteries in the clocks and fixing the TV in the common room. Some animals like tortoises or rabbits on the property would make it more homely and perhaps some healthy snacks at the kiosk. Amazing therapists and psychological assessors. 0860 number DOES NOT WORK. Please have this changed! Very difficult to get hold of centre or staff on weekends.

I won't recommend Riverfield Lodge. The service is USELESS... I have a family member who were there for a while the stories I heard from her is unbelievable. ..The way they talked to her when they washed her. Told her to shut up, rude comment's were also made and the way they treated her when they washed her...Its really inappropriate. The way they talk to elderly people and they way they handle them...Its a big shame that they don't have any respect for elderly people... AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST ASKING HER FOR MONEY...

I was there in June 2015. I stayed there for two weeks. The staff were all friendly, professional and committed to see progress in all of us. It's a good facility. Excellent

We had one telephonic contact with the multi disciplinary team which was insightful. The rest of the experience here was negative, Social workers seldom phone back despite many massages. The visiting is very poorly managed. At fist we had to book visits, half the time this were not “written in the book” and visits were refused. Lately only one visitor is allowed. The family try their best that my father of 90 does not drive here himself, so we come from Pretoria and Kempton Park but they refuse a second person to get in even if the first one gets out. This I find completely irrational and not thought through at all.

Fantastic multidisciplinary team for Rehab, friendly and empathic staff, excellent food, comfortable room. Made radical improvement with dedication to recovery. Excellent option as step-down facility. I will cherish fond memories of my stay

The level of care at this institution is extremely poor. My mom was admitted at this institution since last week Thursday. She is not getting any help from the nurses to walk up and down the stairs to attend the programmes as a result she is left to sit in the ward on a daily basis. They keeping promising to treat her the next day and on the day she is told she is not on the list. This place is horrible
