I recently adopted two darlings from the Sandton SPCA. I'm not familiar with all their branches, so I have no point of reference to compare to, only my personal perception. The entire staff force whom I interacted with are just absolutely incredible. My adoption process was a long and difficult one due to challenges resulting from the one dogs fear related aggression, but despite this they worked hand in hand with me till we reached a point where I could safely adopt her. The volunteers are absolutely incredible! The staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating. You can see that they genuinely care for the animals and strong intentions regarding the adoptions of their animals without cutting any corners. We all know the SPCA fights for animals rights, but the level of dedication and integrity which my case was handled with was just honestly the stuff movies are made of. If you're thinking of expanding your family and aren't sure how to go about it, this is a good place to start. If you don't want to adopt, but want to help in any way possible, rest assured this is one NPO worth your time, energy and money.
Treat the animals with such care. Even use clothing to keep the pets warm during cold days! In addition to the pet care they have a wonderful bookstore and secondhand shop :
Great Service from the clinic. The guys were so understanding and empathetic towards my dog. The receptionist at the clinic was very understanding even if I arrived late she spoke to the Dr and asked her to see my doctor. Thanks very much guys. Keep up the good work
This place is just on my doorstep and I was so pleasantly surprised when we visited. There are many animals that need good loving homes. Animals are well taken care of there and they also accept donations too.
Had the new addition to the family vaxxed and sterilized, supported the charity shop. Cannot fault the Sandton SPCA and the great work done there. I'll be going back to the book shop in the week. Keep it up!
There was numerous complaints reported regarding dogs that is kept in confined spaces and attacking one another. However this SPCA branch is not worried about this or trying to resolve this issue, as this has been ongoing for months.
Love the SPCA, the staff is fantastic as always, they are huge pillar to the community. However, their receptionist could learn a thing or two about manners, she was quite rude, and kept talking over me and was just so slow like she didn't seem to care about anything, truly disappointing behavior. But let that not reflect on all the other amazing people in the facility!
Adopted a cat from them that was sick from day 1 with gastro bacterial infection. How can you approve a sick animal for adoption? Straight away R1100 vet bill. They are unresponsive to my emails. Useless
Lovely place to visit. The thrift store is lovely. It was better with prices last year though. Now the prices went up, even though it's a volunteer donations. But the atmosphere is still great
We adopted a beautiful baby girl from the Sandton SPCA, and unfortunately after only a week with the baby, she passed away due to her spleen rupturing. The vet told us that the damage had to have happened proximity 2 weeks ago during the time she was at the SPCA. When we contacted the Sandton SPCA to let them know she passed, they were extremely rude and told us it was our fault that she passed and we abused her. After being rude to us, we gave them the contact information of the vet so they, themselves, can confirm that she had to have been injured before she was with us as they also said we are lying about it. After them confirming with the vet, the never called us back for a apology or anything. We were already heartbroken due to the situation, as the dog was more a baby than a dog. Due to this, I can not recommend anyone to go to this SPCA as they are extremely rude and of the worst people I have had to work with. And all this after struggling for more than a week with them to do the house inspection and to finalize the adoption. It's as if the SPCA just doesn't want to help people save the animals and just accuse everyone who wants to help and save a dog.
