Such a great find! The food was wonderful the service even more so. Well worth it!
Nice restaurant... location unusual but very interesting. Good food. The wine list is small but with nice label.
Top class food and amazing value for money. Out top food tip for Capetown.
The food was good and the interior is nice too. I love the exposed brick walls. The service was also nice. If you like a nice dinner at a nice place it's definitely the place to go to, but when that's said I didn't feel there was anything special about this place. It feels so mainstream like all other restaurants. Maybe I'm just spoiled because we went to chef's warehouse the day before and we had an amazing tapas experience.
Went there for dinner and thought the food was good. We had the lamb, which was delicious, and other courses of the meal were solid as well. Service was respectable. The dessert was absolutely amazing. We had the soft center pudding which is really a chocolate fondant/lava cake and it was possibly the best dessert we had in Cape Town.
We were just off the plane and had a truly delicious light lunch! Our waitress was so charming and knowledgeable, and we would highly recommend this place to anyone. We shared a nectarine crumble with ginger ice cream! I wish I'd had one to myself! Woukd love to go back for a full three course blow out!
Fabulous restaurant. It's coming up on twenty one years that the Savoy Cabbage has been serving wonderful food to Capetonians and visitors alike and that longevity is a real testament to the enduring quality of the food and service. I have been eating here since my very first visit in 1999 and the welcome from owner, Caroline, manager, Frank and all the attentive and friendly staff is as warm as it was on that first visit. A must if you are ever in Cape Town.
Great food, great service, great prices, a little nervous when the door man lets you into the restaurant and then closes and locks the wrought iron doors behind you. Once inside so welcoming... Back in Cape Town next March and will defiantly be calling again once or twice....
The food was nice but it didn't blow me away. I started with the "House-smoked Norwegian Salmon on a Corncake with Grapefruit Jelly, Crème Fraiche and Ikura Caviar" which was nice. For the main course, I had the "Sautéed Mushrooms, Smoked Ricotta, Slow-roasted Tomatoes and Marinated Zucchini on Farinata with Romesco Sauce". I enjoyed it but found in uninspiring and a little on the bland side. It was also luke warm and I couldn't tell which parts of it were meant to be warm and which parts cold. My partner had the Grilled Hake main, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Service was friendly and courteous, albeit a little slow and not as attentive as it could have been. For example, we finished our drinks half way through the main meal and no one seemed to notice. It wasn't a problem, as we most likely would not have ordered more anyway. The starter options were extensive, but I was a little disappointed that the online menu mentions Seasonal Vegetarian Specialties, but in reality there was only 1 option for vegetarians 2 if you eat fish and ask them to take the Chorizo out. All in all, I would recomend that you visit, but keep your expectations clear, and ask directly if there are specific things that you like, or don't like.
This was our second time at savoy cabbage and the food gets better everytime we visit. It will stimulate your palette for sure. The food was decent portion and will leave you room for desserts.
