Siza is a Johannesburg based micro-finance that provides funding and technical support to small businesses looking to start or grow
With about 17.6 million adults of working age unemployed and Close to 40% of the South African population living in extreme poverty, Poverty remains a constant reality to many families in South Africa.
However poverty and unemployment in South Africa co-exist side by side with unexploited opportunities in Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs). According to Finscore South Africa 2011, there are about 5.5 million Micro and small enterprises in South Africa of which some 3.3 million enterprises are survivalist in nature, some 1, 6 million falls within the mid-level and only 554,751 fall within the small enterprise bracket. With a population in excess of 50 Million this indicates a low level of entrepreneurship and low key growth in Micro to small enterprises.
Siza is positioning youths and women with a passion for business to exploit these business opportunities by supporting them in setting up and or expanding growth oriented, market driven and prudently managed micro and small enterprises that generate income and create jobs.
To support job creation and poverty alleviation by promoting sustainable entrepreneurship among economically disadvantaged grassroots communities across South Africa and Africa in general
