We are African Image Expression, referred to as sollywood movie industry, established by team SA FILMMAKERS GUILD in 2013.
Film making – content development– skill transfer – talent and concept development - creation of dynamic visual puns is our fate.
From the introduction of media and motion image to the history of 19th April 1895 when the ‘’Kinetescope’’ invented by Thomas Edison was a box in which people could see a moving image shown in Africa. Africa becomes one of the first countries in the world to see and hear sound motion picture with the kinetescopes which was opened to the public in South Africa, in Herwoods Arcade on Pritchard and President Streets in Johannesburg - then a small city of nine years only.
Following the first over 1 hr feature film in South Africa which was presented in 9th may 1896 at the Empire Theater of Varieties in Johannesburg, using an R. W. Paul camera and film program featuring De Voortrekkers in 1916. Since then, remarkable visual contents has been achieved in great volume in Africa.
South Africa being the head of its kind in Africa is on the rise to gain its remarkable stand as the African centre for motion picture development as seen from the beginning through the Innovation of African Image Expression according to the declaration of Nelson C Akachukwu and team SA filmmakers guild
We’re on a mission to re-brand, promote and give value to African content as well as prestige to filmmakers, story tellers and motion picture developers, making the case of storytelling a primary pillar for generating funds within and among filmmakers, investors and aspirants.
