The South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional Law (SAIFAC) is a research institute located within the Department of Public Law at the University of Johannesburg. It strives to be a world leading research institute in its core focus areas, namely: Constitutional Law, Public Law, Human Rights, International Law and Philosophy.
Founded in 2004 by Justice Laurie Ackerman, SAIFAC has made a significant contribution to legal academia in South Africa in its first decade of existence. The Institute publishes the annual Constitutional Court Review, hosts domestic and international conferences, and has a distinguished record of publications.
