So I was faced with saving kittens and went to the dbn spca for advice.. met friendly staff members that gave me advice even though they couldn't help me much.. as the kittens were only 4 weeks old and needed constant care.. Branch manager was friendly and very helpful.. thank you Dbn Spca.
Bad experience unfortunately. Took a stray cat that had an eye problem and hoped to keep and adopt the kitten. The adoption section was extremely unhelpful. Did not even advise us to go to the hospital section in order to have a consultation with the vet. We were even willing to pay for the operation. The response from a lady at adoption was that "we'll definitely be putting this cat down if you'll hand it in because who wants to adopt a cat with one eye". Such an extremely heartless and sick statement to make considering its your job to deal with animals of these nature. We had to take the kitten home and unfortunately the kitten died. We are terribly sad at the treatment we received. Even if there was nothing that can be done, you still need to be compassionate when working with animals. We will miss the lil guy : Rest in peace sweet baby. There's a special place in heaven for you.
Lovely place to visit when in Springfield. Very clean and tidy. They have a little restaurant offering small meals, and they have a thrift shop where one can browse around for at least a half an hour, looking through all their second hand items for sale, which are very reasonably priced.
Wonderful, caring atmosphere. Great cafe coffee, good coffee! Cats are right there with you!! Have donated so many things, makes you feel good and lively plants too buy too!
Always helpful regarding animal rescue and safety. The charity shop is a delight to browse and still one of the best coffee spots around, lazy Cafe cats to keep you company does the soul, good.
Lovely tea room with treats and snacks. And a 'dollar store' type shop. Besides. If you don't love rescuing animals and humanitarian causes then what kind of beast are you?
This was my first visit. Was surprised at what the complex had to offer hidden behind the perimeter walls. The charity shop had lots on offer, we loved the books.
If you are an animal lover then the moment you enter the premises you will feel the love all the staff have for any animal there. They are friendly and kind and thoughtful in there dealing with you and your situation. This organisation goes the extra mile and need's our support to continue with the outstanding service which they give to the community . They are situated in Springfield Park and are easily accessible from all directions.
Decent service. However, more efficiency needs to be added if they are to speed up their waiting period
Highly disappointing after reading the reviews. I took my dog Shady in to see the vets here after being turned down by 3 other vets either due to them not having the equipment to help or simply because they wanted to over charge us. After I spoke to the staff and a doctor who briefly looked at my dog I was told to wait as he was still walking yet he barely could and was swaying left to right when he did and to call them if he collapsed, which happened as my severely dehydrated dog was left in the 28 degree heat for 3 hours... I was then told to take him in and after the doctor saw to him in his critical state, I was told once again that he can't help me save my dog... I was told they can't figure out what was wrong. I told him I was advised that there was a possible obstruction and asked for an xray to be done, too which he said they can't do and that he can't feel anything obstructing in the dogs stomach. I was then advised that I either went to another private vet or I put my dog down... this was NOT an option... my dog was okay and stable before coming to this vet... he was walking, drinking and had some energy after I force fed him... but the state he was in after this vet left him critical and in need of urgent attention... had I known this was the service I was going to get and my dog was just another animal to put down for this vetenerian then I wouldn't of bothered... Update: 30/11/21 So after not taking the vets advise to put my dog down because he didn't know what was wrong and how to treat my dog, I went to Dr Yesh Govender at Mount Claire Vet and am happy to say that he never gave up on my dog, he did the x-ray we tried to get from all the vets we went to and he picked up a blockage in his gut. The surgery was done well and successfully and my dog is now recovering at home... he will need time to regain his weight and some strength but he is alive and well...
