It’s always a pleasure to visit this cute cafe bakery, especially after their summer holiday. They updated a bit their menu and now you even get schnitzel and pasta for lunch here. If you haven’t been here what are you waiting for come in and enjoy their great service and food and maybe practice a bit of Swiss deutsch
You can imagine my delight, as a Swiss in the UK, when I saw that a Swiss bakery had opened up near me! I get excited when I find German bakeries as they are usually the closest thing I can find to a taste of home. So when I saw that there was a Swiss bakery not far from where I live, I was over the moon! Right near Ham House and close to Twickenham, Richmond and Kingston, it’s easy to get to as the 371 bus stops basically right outside. Obviously I’ve been quite a few times and was overjoyed by what was on offer. Not only a wonderful bakery and cafe, but even a small grocery cart with long missed brands and items from home! Chocolate, cheese, biscuits, and even meats from Switzerland, as well as the essential Rösti! All my favourites like Cailler greatest chocolate in the world!, Kagi, Stalden, Torino and Ragusa, as well as the classic potato crisps. As a Basler it’s great to sometimes see some Basler Läckerli, and even some Appenzeller Biberli. Plenty of fresh and famous Swiss cheese, and of course nothing beats a cold refreshing Rivella on a hot day! Really very handy if I’ve run out of certain items since my last trip back home and have a craving for something! Not only is this fantastic for me, but it warms my heart knowing people from the area can now try some delicious Swiss brands! Prices are very fair considering it has to be imported and from an obviously very expensive country. The selection seems to change slightly between visits which is nice but I’d love to see even more items to treat myself to. As for the bakery itself, well the other reviews speak for themselves… delicious fresh bread, including my favourite Zopf and Wegglis, and scrumptious sweet treats that are popular in Switzerland. Quality is always top notch and fresh, and always so hard to pick only one thing to eat! As with any good quality bakery where stuff is made fresh, it’s important to come as early as possible especially on weekends for a full selection. I have also been in an hour before closing time and there are still plenty of options to choose from, but if you want something in particular try and be as early as possible. I would suggest their cinnamon bun, which is made the Swiss way, delicious Linzertorte which is Austrian but very popular in Switzerland too and their carrot cake Rueblikuchen, which is not like English carrot cake, it’s far better ; There’s a few tables and chairs inside the bakery, as well as a few outside as well to sit and eat. Really friendly and warm atmosphere and the staff are always lovely. From Switzerland themselves, I feel like this place is a mini embassy of sorts as I always feel at home here. For the local community they have gained a delicious, great quality bakery which is nice, but for Swiss expats in the UK this means so much as this is the only such place in all of London… I can’t believe my luck that this place has opened up, I have been many times and of course will keep coming back as much as possible! Absolutely recommend this place to anyone, it’s an absolute hidden gem! Merci viel mal :
Had lunch there and the food was really good. I had a toastie and it was delicious. The apple strudel was really good. Bought a farmhouse baguette home and it was absolutely fab. The ladies there are really nice. Good food and good service. Highly recommended.
Amazing gem hidden Richmond, recommended by @claudiamoney, the @swissbread_bakery is quirky Swiss cafe providing all the great Swiss bakery goods. With a wide variety of swiss breads and pastries that just made to perfection. Very calm atmosphere and excellent helpful staff who are very attentive. You have to try the Pretzel with sweet mustard which was my favourite. If your around Kingston/Richmond area have wonder in. @swissbread_bakery you get a massive
I have been wanting to visit this cafe for long time and i wasn't disappointed,we had the traditional fondue was delicious followed by millefeuille and black forest gateux, drank Rivella and bought lots of Swiss goodies! ,left full ,happy and for a little while it was like been at home in Switzerland, service was excellent and coffee one of the best! Thank you
The Swiss Bakery in Ham is a must visit. Especially if you are Swiss as I am, this a place to feel a little bit like home. I have been a regular customer and have tried many things. It’s not only delicious but also lovely presented and staff is just so welcoming and friendly. They also have nice outdoor seating available and sell various Swiss delights such as Zweifel Chips, Landjäger and Zwieback. On top it’s located conveniently between a pharmacy, the post office and Tesco Express - all you need in one place. Check it out!
I’m absolutely in love with Swiss Bread Bakery! Their breads are made the traditional way with flour imported from Switzerland and are so tasty. The quality of all the goods is top notch and it’s ever so hard which bread or pastries to choose from. I also love the Cafe with seating available inside and outside and Coffee is of high quality as well. A special mention goes to the enthusiastic Team who is always smiling and ever so helpful when one needs extra help. And there is good parking available if needed but it’s also a nice surrounding area to get there on foot. I can honestly say I haven’t bought my bread in any other place than Swiss Bread Bakery since their opening just before the pandemic. And now with the impending summer holidays I make sure I have enough stock of bread and rolls in the freezer. Thank you Swiss Bread Bakery for spoiling us with such treats!
A little slice of Swiss heaven in London. Great variety of traditional Swiss breads and pastries, including a little shop with classic Swiss products -perfect for those wanting to try new things or for those missing the mountains. Great staff and cozy wood chalet feeling inside.
This is a well known local bakery, cafe & deli, run by renown veteran Swiss chefs Andre and Tanja and a dedicated team of baristas. Absolutely delicious traditional Swiss bread and pastries, sandwiches, Burcher muesli, raclette, fondue and Ovomaltine. The Saturday Butterzopf is soft and fragrant, a perfect start to a lovely weekend. @swissbread_bakery ; @swissbread_bakery
As a second-generation Swiss, I was delighted to find this enchanting bakery/cafe so close to me in South London. I very much appreciated the decor mountain goats, cuckoo clock, wooden shutters, etc which successfully transported me to the motherland as I lunched on a delicious pretzel and sausages. The staff are incredibly friendly too. Will definitely be coming back, next time hopefully with my proper Swiss mum, who is going to love it.
