I’ve been coming here for many years. The place is starting to look a bit better with the tattered iconic flags on the ceiling now removed. That said the food was excellent and even being very busy the staff were friendly and the service quite good. Nothing quite beats having good food, good wine along with some good company in sight of the waves. Nothing quite beats the casual atmosphere and being able to stick your toes in the sand conversing over a good meal.
A wee bit disappointing as the food that was served was not the Spanish tapas. We expected a variety of tapas ….. The menu had the usual South African seafood range. Tasty. So once you get over the fact that there is no real tapas being served, you will enjoy the fare. Service was good. Quick and cheerful. Ambience was excellent. Right on the beach. What more can one ask for ?
I think the place can do with a revamp, the atmosphere doesn't feel to welcoming, but the staff was friendly and helpful, had a variety of items and couldn't find fault at with the food, it was good and freshly prepared.
Great Food, Super friendly staff and amazing to sit with your feet in the sand while sipping on your drink. Will definitely return when we are back in your valley!Food: 5/5
At this is the alternative to the Wales kipper on the same beach it was amazing how different the atmosphere is. Tapas is a fantastic family, relaxed seafood restaurant. Feet in sand with friendly and efficient staff. Food is amazing and top quality. We came here 3 times in 4 days and would gladly come again. The menu still has lots to explore. Thank you for making us enjoy our stay in JBay even more. You will definitely see us again.
Enjoyed a lovely lunch of eisbein there, very friendly service. Caught them a bit unawares as arrived at 3 as they opened on Wednesday after being closed Tuesday, so had to get fryers going, etc, but vibe good so didn't mind waiting. Love the beach sand floors and watching the sea from indoors. Outdoor seating also available. Pet friendly!
Awesome! Food is bar food but fresh and good. Waitress was very attentive besides the fact that they where super busy. Would go here again. Prices where not bad.Food: 3/5
This was not what we expected. The real meaning of the word tapas /ˈtapas/ See definitions in: Savoury noun small Spanish savoury dishes, typically served with drinks at a bar. "we offer sharing plates and tapas with wine and cocktails" We did not really find any "tapas" on the menu. The service was slow and all of this contributed to the atmosphere not being what we expected. Was a bit on the pricey side for what was offered.
Food is always fantastic here, but the waiters can be a little slow at times. Overall, it has been excellent experiences over the years I've been coming here.Food: 5/5
Took us 15min to get a waiter and wasn't busy. Had the meat Supreme pizza. Advertised as large but is the size of a medium/small. Is 80% cubed ham, little of the other meat and you are charge R165 for it. Can't provide you with a drinks menu, guess you will just have to ask about everything and be surprised of the prices.
