The Gables Guest House

Great place. It's huge and can easily accommodate 10 adults. Amenities are close by and the unit has all the equipment needed to have a great holiday. Thank you for the great weekend away.Rooms: 5/5

Both houses were in good condition spacious and comfortable. Had everything we wanted. Only to find out the owner was rude to us after seeing that we black. Claiming that our white neighbors were complaining about us and the noise . I was super disappointed. What ruined things more was her accusing us of theft and claiming we left her place untidy Only

The Gables is under new management and they did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. An amazing home, well kept large garden, amazing view of the mountains. If ever in need of a house to accommodate 14 people comfortably in Clarens will definitely be back!!

If you want a place where they don't make the beds daily during course of your stay.... If you want to be rushed out by cleaning ladies at 09:09 when check out time is 10:00... If you want to have water supply switched off at 09:45 when check out time is 10:00... If you want to have your belongings stolen by the cleaners without recourse... If you want to be held responsible for the wear and tear of the door locks, frames, etc... Go stay there, just prepare yourself for the worst excuse ever not to get your refund for incidental cover. The house is nice, the service is however the worst I have experienced in all my local and international travels. The owner focus on mme Evelyn when it comes to cleaning services and honesty, yet the old lady does not work alone, she has a squad which I refer to as "cleaning ladies" above. Our group had no issues with her and the old man that tended to the yard and pool. In fact we shared our food with them. Furthermore, the owner says they don't run the place like a hotel, yet other bedrooms were made up, well I always make up beds even at hotels, so that I don't leave anything behind on or in the bed sheets. In this case however some were attended to, others not. And being rushed out at 09:09 caused me to forget my clothes in the closet, a first of my many travels as I always check everywhere before I leave my accommodation. I'm just saying, when you do use The Gables, keep your guard up and get mentally ready for anything possible as you enjoy your vacation.
