Hi My friends and i booked a 'BOYS WEEKEND' at the Maisonette and from the word go, it was the best time that we have ever had staying at any venue. Every need was accommodated and it was the best valve for money. The venue was clean, spacious and the service was always done with s smile..... so for any one who is looking for "good valve for money and great service" look no further .
This guest house has huge potential. Lovely garden, bird feeders/lots of birds around/nice pool, etc. But we wouldn't stay here again unless they improve several things. We really felt "nickle and dimed" as when we 1st arrived the only coffee was cheap Ricoffy in a more expensive instant coffee - Nescafe - bottle, the only milk was bad-tasting long-life milk, there was no real butter and it seemed like everything else as well, from the food to the toilet paper, was the cheapest on the market. They did provide better coffee but still instant coffee, and sadly still with long life milk when we asked - they certainly did try, but didn't quite reach the level we wanted. We'd rather pay slightly more per night and not get the cheapest of everything. Security was at times an issue when the gate didn't work and the guard wasn't there. This was sorted out fairly quickly both times it happened, though. The checkin experience wasn't very pleasant. We arrived at the gate and eventually realized that the intercom system was not working so we had to call one of the numbers on the gate to get someone to let us in we noticed the numbers got removed a few days later, and that might explain why we often heard hooting outside when people needed to get in. When we did get inside, we had to find our way to the reception as no one came to meet us and welcome us at the parking area. The manager, Cheryl, didn't seem to know about our booking but made a plan when we gave her our proof of booking through Agoda. She then asked us how we were going to pay, and we said Agoda would pay them as we had paid Agoda. She sorted it out. But it wasn't the most welcoming experience. Some of the staff members, especially George, were extremely helpful. George, in fact, seems to be a true asset to the place. We'd only stay here again if they upped their game - even if they charged a couple of hundred rand a night more and made us feel less nickle and dimed. Hopefully they'll realize that they can reach their full potential just by improving a few things. They can probably quite easily get a 4-star rating on Tripadvisor if they just improve a few things. Let's hope they do, as we'd love to see this place do better!
Wifi not available in all the rooms. And the wifi is so bad when you have signal you don't want to use it. Self catering units don't even have cutlery or plates. Bathrooms are not the cleanest that I have used.
