Although the seating is minimal in this restaurant, my overall experience of it was amazing. The staff were super friendly. We ordered their cheese platter which had 6 different types of cheeses all of which were so delicious! The best part is that they’re also a deli and wine store with a large variety of speciality products. It’s a great place to get a bite to eat and purchase some good wine and cheese!
First Visit Dinner: 5 Stars on the wine tasting Had a wonderful evening at this lovely restaurant. Staff was great friendly and efficient. We did the wine tasting which was a lovely experience. Courses were well paired with good wines and bubbles. The purées and sauces were absolutely delicious. Also sells a variety of cheeses cold meats and various pantry items. Will definitely be returning. Second Visit Lunch: 3 stars After our amazing experience at wine tasting we thought we will do lunch here - man what a disappointment. The pasta was so dry - the smoked salmon dish was so salty and I felt the dinner staff was much more inefficient than the lunch staff however they were quite friendly and tried really hard.
Minimal seating. Not many vegetarian and vegan options. Pricey on drinks. Everything else was decent. Satisfactory service by staff and food was good.
Great food and hospitality! Had the Thursday night wine and cheese special and was better than expected. Worth the visit for sure
Absolutely loved the food on both occasions that I have been to OTM. However, there was a minor issue the first time with forgetting my meal for an order. The issue was rectified. I was there this evening for a second time, initially went for something sweet. Had drinks and some tapas - and ordered dessert. The dessert never came and it seems the waitress had completely forgotten the order. We eventually just paid and left after waiting quite a while. The experience as a whole is lovely, the food is great. Obviously just left with a sweet tooth completely unsatisfied.
Every aspect of Off The Menu has been very carefully designed and curated to offer the best dining experience possible. The restaurant runs like a well oiled machine, the staff are well trained, friendly and efficient. My partner and I have visited on four occasions and the food has been consistently excellent. Highly recommended!
We took our family of 5 to Sunday lunch at Off the Menu. Service was below average and lacked attention to detail, such as drying glasses before bringing to the table. If you’re not a wine drinker, this place is not for you with only Castle light beer on offer. We asked our server if there were cocktails available and she said that normally there are but they are making a new menu. We then asked for 2 standard cocktails and she came back with a firm ‘no’. Portion sizes do not match the price and although the food is tasty and well presented 3 of us were left hungry. The ox cheek was the size of a small tablespoon on top of 3 baby carrots heirloom carrots? and a lump of mash with a gravy on the side. At R185.00 per serving, diners shouldn’t feel cheated and hungry afterwards. Tiramisu and Eaton mess were delicious but sadly didn’t make up for the tiny portions of ox cheek. The sour dough bread we bought was stale. I don’t take bad reviews lightly and try to look for the good, but not an experience I’d recommend.
Had steak and frites. Hairs on the potatoes, asked for well done steak, it came medium and wasn't seasoned, totally tasteless. The bearnaise sauce tasted nice but wasn't beaten properly. Big disappointment. It wasn't the worst meal I've had at a restaurant and it was edible but was nothing special and for that price I expected something really well cooked. Waitress was extremely invasive, wanted to have a nice evening with a friend and she kept coming over and forced me to tell her what I thought of the food. When I gave in and told her, I'd expect some kind of compensation or even just an apology but hair on the food doesn't seem to be a concern for them. Overall a disturbing experience and I don't recommend the place.
Good service and menu but the food we ordered looked great but lacked taste, especially the battered fish. Also, limited selection of beers and no ice-teas or kid friendly drinks. Wanted to order the burger sliders they ran out of rolls. Overall a very average experience
The food is delicious, great atmosphere and the hospitality is out of this world. Such friendly people and great service.
