The Rustic Route

We had to wait for an extremely long time. Absolutely unacceptable. A couple gin tonics, how hard can it be? The waiter asked 6 times what kind of wine we wanted and did not know anything about the wines. Would not recommend to go here ever! When the wine arrived it was ice cold, gin tonics were very plain. Add a lemon or whatever, do something! We wanted to go for dinner here, group of 9, but because of the horrible experience we decided to go somewhere else. You're missing out on revenue because of this atrocious service.

Some might call The Rustic Route ‘chilled’; but it is slow. Slow with a greasy dollop of bad service. The food is bland and mediocre. Burned pizza with cheap cheddar cheese will never become a thing. Note to owner: consider mentioning the permanently out-of-stock mozzarella on your “pizza” menu. Oh, and whatever you use for dough is an insult to pizza around the world. Worst of all: Never serve your customers a dish or plate that has a crack or 4 in it. Chipped dishes harbor bacteria and have no place in a restaurant. If this is the new interpretation of “rustic”, rather stick to beer and peanuts.

Good place to have some local Featherstone beers around fires if it’s cool or to sit outside when it’s warm. Lots of character

Honestly, the vibes were good. The place itself has a nice aesthetic and I’d go again for a drink or two. I wouldn’t stay too long though coz obviously since it’s a good place, it gets packed pretty quickly. No hate…I liked it.

This place is finally about to take a turn for the best. Exactly what was missing in town and a great experience. I'll be back on Friday. All of them.

Flood looks great not so much with the drinks.

The food was great and the restaurant has a great vibe to it. The Burger, chips and onion rings were very tasty and well worth the R55 I paid. Much better option than other burger places. The service, though, was not that great and I was not acknowledged till I approached the manager. She assigned a young waiter to me but he elected to start our transaction with "What do you want to order" instead of the traditional Good day, how are you. After I gave him my order he turned and walked away without a word. Have me my drink, without a word. The only time he spoke was when I pointed out a mistake with the order, and the response was not a offer to fix it, rather a uninterested "oh, there left the tomato". I think I will go back but rather for a takeaway...

Raw Chicken & Terrible Service! We waited an hour for our food and halfway through my meal I noticed that a part of my chicken was still raw. They also couldn’t serve cappuccinos and couldn’t explain why. The filter coffee which I ordered instead tasted horrible. The waitress was rather unapologetic about everything and the manager was simply not available. What a pity as it seemed like a very charming restaurant.

Good food and friendly relaxed atmosphere

I have never been there but experienced the terrible smoke coming from the braai's they use to cook food on while having my hair cut at the hairdresser's next door. They don't worry about Covid protocol & the noise level on Friday & Saturday nights can be heard from my house which is out of town. The crowd also flows out into the street.
