About Us
The Station Market is an exciting market in a historic setting. Housed under the elegant and iconic Johannesburg’ s first railway station, commissioned by the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek and designed by the Dutch architect Jacob Klinkhamer, was manufactured in Rotterdam in 1895. The structure is an excellent example of late eighteenth-century building technology.
The Station Market is a true escape from supermarket shopping right in front of the Mandela Bridge, in the heart of Newtown Cultural Precinct. The most beautiful market in Johannesburg, our carefully selected traders offer the best of products: from handbags to foods and crafts. Our vendors are budding entrepreneurs, qualified chefs, small farmers, crafters and designers.
The Station Market is open three times a week; on Fridays, the market is dedicated to Ladies Market, with traders offering variety of goods from handbags to jewellery, books and magician stall. Saturdays and Sundays are dedicated to the Food Festival; We bring you the best quality fresh produce, deli goods, artisanal baking and delicious international flavours and craft to the inner city. A family friendly market with a kids play area that has activities such as face painting and jumping castles and quad biking facilities on the premises to live entertainment. We promise to change your weekends forever.
